Hey John that really sounds like fun hope you enjoy your self. Back in my early 20s I use to go to them with a group of friends I knew. We would get on the stage and play a couple tunes. I had to quiet playing the Banjo because of to much stuff I had to get done. One of my tunes I enjoyed the most was foggy mountain, Cripple creek, I liked those old tunes of Earl Scruggs.

sounds like fun john, maybe i'll pack up my drums and make a road trip!! ya'll gonna play "Rocky Top"??????????????????

Yep, pretty well the FIRST song a beginning banjo player wannabee learns to play is Cripple Creek since its fairly easy to play plus to other people it sounds like you"re a real banjo player if you even get through even a very simple arrangement lol I waited too late in life to try and pick so wont ever be a real picker and when I see these very young kids take lessons and in a few months can blow me away I want burn my banjo grrrrrrrrrrrrr

Sure, real banjo pickers will be playing it, I can take a very elementary break and keep in time if they call it out in G but have to pass if its in some other keys grrrrrrrr

That's it, east of Bedford Indiana just inside Jackson County near Highway 58 north of Highway 50. I'm almost sure the Post Office says Norman Station instead of Norman BUT IVE BEEN WRONG BEFORE LOL

Have fun.
On the same note, (pun intended, but I don't mean to steal the thread) I have been able to get through my first song on the banjo.
Murphy Henry showed me how.
good luck

The Murphy method seems good, unfortunately I took hardly any lesson thus developed some bad habits which once learned are almost impossible to break grrrrrrrrrrrrrr May just burn my banjo lol

Heres a crude attempt I did like 3 years ago and after all that time I'm no better perhaps a bit worse today grrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Many years ago I purchased a Chet Atkins guitar course, (complete with illustrated booklet and 45rpm instructional record), had too many irons in the fire at the time, never did do anything with it. Wish I had now. But I do still have the guitar course. Enjoy yourself, John T.
