Mowing plans cancelled

I finished one job, and moving to another. I called to let the person know I was on my way. The lady said the road was closed do to a crime investigation. A body was found near where I was to mow. It was a good spot for a crime, at the end of a dead end road. I will have to drive a lot of miles to return. Then I don't have it so bad, I can come back. That poor guy who is now dead, will never come back. I would sure hate to find a dead person while working in a field. Stan

Several years ago a local man found a body in a silage corn field.Ran over the body with the silage cutter tire. found it the next round........

I agree, I hate it when I find a dead animal when out brushhogging...specially if I don't see it in time

A friend of mine found a dead body in his corn field last fall.The guy had been shot in the head.
He was an older guy that loaned a neighbor money and the neighbor came back wanting more and killed him.

Now this brings up the question if you would of mowed there and say spotted a dead body does one risk telling the authorities and then become their # 1 suspect ?

Did you hear about the lady who was dumped, sorry no nice way to say, that worked at Charter in Mauldin last year? Less than 200 yards from my house. The house back in the day, belonged to my great grandfather, my Dad was born in that house.

Back when I was in High School a couple of teenage girls disappeared from a park in the next town over, no trace. The following year they found one of them in some pasture land/forest next to a hay field I'd custom bale for a neighbor. He was a professor over at Michigan State University and was a MD/PHD, they also happened to be Mormon (the only ones in our small area). It played out kind of funny, if anything associated with a teenage girl's death could be funny. Their dog had been bringing in bones, no one payed much attention and the youngest son figured they were deer bones, took to throwing them in the air and shooting them with a shoot gun. One summer day he rolls out of bed at 9:30 AM and first thing his Mom starts in on him that he shouldn't be playing with his Dad's skull (the doctor had a skull specimen from medical school) and there is no way in heck he should be leaving it lay around in the door yard as that was disrespectful and wouldn't be tolerated. He pleads innocent and she asks him to explain the item on the freezer on the back porch. He goes onto the porch and sees the skull and gets a little spooked, then he informs his Mom that isn't his Dad's skull, as that is a Female skull and Dad's specimen is from a male. Mrs/Mom retorts with something to the nature of "How do you know smarty pants" (thinking he's trying to beat the rap), He points out the differences. Mrs calls the husband, he comes home from work and verifies the son's observation. They call the Sheriff's department, when they arrive the son explains to the deputy "I found the skull on the back porch, on top of the freezer" they start searching and find the bones, Hmmmm looks like the victim was shot with a shot gun at close range, then the son had to fess up to using them for target practice. They search the farmstead and eventually found the girl's remains in the woodlot. It is part of the same farm but it wasn't rented to the Professor. Of course with them being LDS some folks thought it was them because they were "different", they ended up being on the local news that night saying they weren't different and had nothing to do with it, it's normal to find skulls in your door yard. Eventually they found the remains of the other girl 4-5 miles away, again off an unused lane, that was off a back road, someplace only a long time local would know about. I heard the Sheriff figured out who did it but couldn't prove it, a year or two later they went to do a drug bust and the perpetrator) he came out not with his hands above his head but carrying a gun, they shot him and now he is no more. Whole deal freaked me out, had I made a pitstop at the wrong time I might of found her. I knew it wasn't our neighbors, it was just unfortunate that they got associated with it. I was a little worried the first girl was found next to a hay field I baled, the second over near a farm I milked cows at.

My brother was running a backhoe for a local Fire Department digging through what was left of a burnt house and found the remains of the owner. Not pretty.

Really? That should never even enter your mind. You found a body and you don't report it then you DO become the #1 suspect!
