OT Update on my brother

I asked for prayers for my brother a week ago, here's what's happened since. My sister-in-law called Monday night. The DR's said he had massive brain damage from his fall and too long on CRP, he's been in a coma since he arrived at hospital. The outlook was poor at best and they had decided to take all the medicine away and let him go peacefully. Tuesday night she called again, I was expecting to here he had passed away. A Dr. came in Tuesday morning and said they need to do a CAT scan, results came back, no brain damage. They changed what they were doing to him and by afternoon, he was awake, following people around the room with his eyes, blinking his eyes in answer to questions. Thursday, they took out the breathing tube in his throat and he was trying to talk. Friday they moved him out of intensive care into a regular room. I talked to his son-in-law today. They are trying to decide what to do for rehab, nursing home or something else. The Good Lord is answering our prayers, please continue to pray for him.
He farmed several patches of ground in and around town and drove truck. They are not sure he will ever drive again and will have to carry a oxygen bottle around to breathe. I said it was getting time to get his crops in, maybe they should think about hiring someone to plant his crops for him. He said they had talked about it and his wife has decided to give up all the rented land because she thinks he will never be well enough to farm again. It's her decision, I WILL NOT get involved in this, BUT, when he is well enough to know what happened, he is gonna be super pizzed! He is stubborn and bull headed and can be a major azz hole when he wants to. She is gonna have her hands full for sure. Please keep the prayers coming, Thanks, Chris

You never know, a life altering event like that sometimes changes a persons entire outlook on life and their priorities.

Chris,

The news appears to be getting better. As I read your post, it appears that the physicians had a much worse prognosis originally, and now your brother is doing significantly better. From what I read, I wouldn't be too quick to tie him down to a lifetime on an oxygen bottle, not being able to drive a truck or operate farm or any other kind of machinery...from what I got from your post. It appears that your bullheaded, stuborn brother is somewhate of a fighter. Good for him, good for all involved.

I wish him well and a speedier recovery.

Mark

Don't give up on what he will be able to do.Friend of mine was in a very bad wreck. Wife was told he would never walk again. That was thirty years ago.Took a year but he has been walking ever since.

Hope he gets back to normal soon.

Don"t count him out. My grandfather"s brother had a heart attack and the doctors said he"d never recover, so they signed the papers and shut off life support. He walked out under his own power 2 days later.

Great news! With the progress he has made in this short while, he will likely make a near full recovery. I wouldn't give up on the farming part just yet.

I fell one winter er doc told me i cracked elbow it turned out i didnt. I asked why they said the worse apparantly they do that to protect themselves from lawsuits. they would rather be wrong and no fracture versus wrong and later a fracture show up . so i always figured docs will give you the worse case posible and be proved wrong you wont sue then

Must be different there then around here. Here you agree to rent ground by January, trying to walk away as planting is starting just isn"t pretty. I imagine the landlord would keep the money and some BTO will come in and plant.
Yup bet he"ll be mad.

My mother was a nurse in large hospital.

In any dire situation she'd tell us not to give up hope, because she's seen true miracles happening all the time with her own eyes.

That sounds like one of them.

Just a thought dont know if you got an antique club or not or how many acres you got to go but when i got laid up the area club came out and put mine in .i can never thank them enough for that and all they said is they wanted a place to play with tractors.
