There is no serial # tag on a plow.

There probably is a way to tell the year, but I don't know it. If Bob Collins is around here I'll bet he knows. Might try on the John Deere forum.

555 & 555H were built from 1956 to sometime after 1961. Parts Catalog PC-524 available online at jdparts.com.

Only way to guess at year is find a part in parts catalog that is different for different years and look at your plow to see what part is on it but then it if the later number part it possibly has been replaced as orignal type was bad design.
