Well thats why I am looking for for information as I am not sure, this is a blonde you are dealing with. lol
 
Run on down to the Deere site here on YT and ask them. Someone there will know. Those two tractors are about as different as day and night so I have my doubts if it will work. Good luck. Jim

NO way will they work. The 40 is a vertical cylinder engine and the engine is the frame that holds the tractor together. The 50 is a horsintal cylinger tractor that the engine does not reach the front end so it has to have frame rails that go past the engine to fasten the front on. The 40 is smaller tractor and should have 15" wheels, the 50 should have 16" wheels with roll-a-matic that was not avaible on the 40.
 
Like the others,I doubt it will fit/bolt up. But you
could make an 'adapter'plate of sorts.Seen that done
numerous times.
