Help!- clogged fuel injector

Today I tried to start a 1 cylinder diesel engine (Lombardini) that had been sitting unused in the shed for 8 years. The fuel injection system primed easily and appeared to work fine. It had steady pulsations of fuel from the end of line at the injector connection. The engine would fire with ether but never run wen the starting fluid burned off.

I pulled the injector out and reconnected to the fuel injection system. When I checked for the spray pattern it did not spray any fuel. I assume the injector is clogged. I tried spraying break cleaner in the injector and that did not appear to help. How do I clean this or make it work again?

Even with a clogged injector the engine should start and run...check that mice haven't filled your air breather with a mouse nest..I had an old 4 cylinder diesel that needed injector cleaner to get it to run right, but it needs to start, warm up and run to have injector cleaner work

A single cylinder with a stuck injector will never fire up.
I would take that injector to a diesel shop and have it tested on the pop tester.
Changes are if it is stuck you'll need a new nozzle.
Injectors are easy to rebuild but one needs a pop pressure tester to set the correct opening pressure.

I used to work on those engines. Found quite a few
that had been sitting a while with stuck injector
nozzles. Take it to a shop.

Strange thing is. I have started diesels that have
been for years. Prelube spin over bleed the fuel
system and cranked up with no problems.

had an AC HD-10 with a 4-71 detroit that sat for ten years. One day i thought i better see if it still turns over
Put booster cables on from my truck batts,..gave it a sniff of ether, hit starter and off it went. Ran like it had ran the day before.;)
