Real Work Horses...LOL!

I hooked the spreader up to my newer team Saturday to see what they would do. Got a little spooky when I put it in gear. The spreader is in excellent original condition, but the chains were rusty from age (it has never sat outside) and the creaking and groaning bout sent them into orbit.
It's funny, I can drive them down the road with cars and semi's coming right at them and they don't even take notice, but a little squeaking from behind and watch out!! LOL!
I have the chains greased and it should be quieter next time. I would like to use it to spread manure with them.
Other picture is the older team (actually younger in age) with a harrow trying to knock down some manure piles last year at this time. Bob

Thanks. These have all been together for most of their 6 and 7 years of life. They are like a bunch of kids. It's hilarious watching them at times, bickering and mock fighting. They rear up and paw at each other (not within striking distance) like wild stallions...and they are all geldings! LOL!
I can feel for your Father, 4 of these guys are like 6 real kids. Bob

Nice looking teams.
Swmbo says she used to harness up her 1st born draft (about 1200lbs) to tow her son around in the winter. Laughs about how the horse would start snorting and pawing the ground ready for a load to pull. She still has the horse and she got the horse befor her son was born and her son is now 32

Good looking Percherons. I have two grey mares I plan to breed the summer. Keep working them, wet collars make good horses. I bet you have the same problem i do though- time! It takes time to train them and work them and we only have a limited amount. I love my horses, I just wish I was younger.

nice pics.
Yesterday, I stopped an watched an amish 4 horse team pulling a plow thru
a mowed hay field.
They were working hard, but never ran out of traction!
