Potato Sprouts - Remove or Not?

The potatoes that I'm planning on planting tomorrow have sprouts on them 2 to 4 inches in length. Last year I broke them all off before planting. I'm thinking I may leave them on this year. Do these longer sprouts continue to grow after planted?

plant the taters with the spouts buried. mine in nw alabama have really come on in the past week. about a foot tall and really bushy.

I don't know if there is any truth to it, but the old timers around here always said the first sprouts are the strongest. If you remove them, they will resprout.

you leave the sprouts on and bury with the potatoe. those sprouts will be poking out of the ground later.

Sprouting potatoes shuts them off from growing for a bit so I would think if you sprout and plant them they would take longer to come up.Like everyone else I'd leave them.

yes keep them on but we call them eyes so put paper over them so there eyes do not get dirt in them
