Then I found her! Called her for a good 10 minutes and didn't get a response. That's not like her, usually comes running on the first call. Started to get concerned while pacing around the yard looking for her and this is what I saw. She must have slipped in behind me when I was up there earlier and locked her in.

My dog does the exact same thing. I have lots of rabbits that live in my barn I will open the door get something and sure enough she slipped by me to get her a rabbit. Later she is a howling to get out if I do not go looking for her.

My yellow Lab has done the same thing -- nosing around in the machine shed when I closed the door, then yipping when I went searching for her later (which I often have to do, because she really sucks at coming when called).

Thank you Zach - I was having a hell of time trying to figure that picture out - so obvious after reading your post!

reminds me, Who loves you? Lock your dog and wife in the barn go back later and see who is glad to see you. Sorry getting old I guess.

Bout a year or so ago was working around the house and my little dog and the neighbors yellow lab were great friends. Went down into the basement and my dog followed...I thought!
Hours later I thout I heard her bark a time or two, but could not see her in the dark outside. Finallyu figured out where the barking was coming from....neighbor had walked the train station lot behind us looking for his dog!

Nick, I "saved" it to my computer by "right clicking" it, then rotated the copy that I saved, then re-posted the rotated copy back as a reply to your original post.

By the way - I meant to tell you that we occasionally lock our dog in one of the sheds, but she's pretty watchful now. If you start for the door, she'll usually beat you to it, ha.

we can't let these two out together or they will disappear in a heartbeat, separate, no problem, so one has to stay inside or on a chain. to bad, so sad, but i'd rather them cry than me.

I think that not coming when called is one of the traits that yellow labs are very strong in. My old yellow "Abby" is about at the end of her run. (12 yrs old) I am already thinking about a yellow puppy.

kids 3 and five years olds came up to where I was working and said there was a monstier in the barn. I thought I would humor them and go see the monster. The english setter has fell down in the hay bales and was barking. I had to take out about a 100 bales to get her out and then put them back.

My Lab is 12 years old, too, and showing some signs of slowing down. She was a 6-year-old rescue when I got her, so I don't know why she didn't learn to come when called in her younger years (nature vs. nurture?). She's a nice dog, but I do get frustrated when I have to beller at her to get her to come.
