Bump firing a semi-auto.

The young man in that video is an idiot.

In addition to poor muzzle discipline, he intentionally fires at water. His explanation denying the probability of ricochets is flat wrong.

I'd just as soon not be in the same county with him and a gun, thanks.

Call me old-fashioned, but I prefer to hit what I'm shooting at.

I'm with Fawteen about shooting into water. Firing a single round of .223 into a pond is stupid; emptying a clip is criminal.

(quoted from post at 15:52:54 04/26/14) People like that make it tougher on responsible gun owners. JMHO

Gotta agree, waste of ammo, fool hardy and dangerous. Some gun control nut job will use that video as proof that the constitution should be amended and guns should be banned.

Sort of like that add-on device called a H3ll Fire Trigger, was legal, but sure is a good way to get law checking you out.

As others have noted, bump-firing does NOT lend itself to accuracy of any sort. On the other hand, actual automatic rifles do not lend themselves to accuracy - more of suppression firepower in actual combat.

Greg1959, have you seen any of the videos where they use a bump-fire stock that works on the same principle as the gimmicky methods? While it isn"t much on accuracy either, it does give the shooter more ability to place a lot of bullets in a relatively small area, akin to what can be accomplished with fully automatic handheld rifles. At this point in time, the ATF folks don"t consider them illegal. (Maybe because they LIKE the idea of those type of shooters using up most of their ammo!)

HillsOfTN-Yes, I'm aware of the 'bump-fire' stocks.

I just thought it would be an interesting subject since the talk about .22LR shortage in the post below.

I too think it is a waste of ammo and has no accuracy, let alone the unsafe shooting across water (ricochets).

All I wanted to do, was show how 'bump firing was done. Not, about the unsafe uses the utube poster was using.

Thanks

Greg

It may not be the smartest, but I can let em fly like that with a mak 90 I bought about twenty years ago. Good accurate gun that needs about zero maintenance. Did that more when a case of 7.62 was $100 or something like that!!

(quoted from post at 14:50:22 04/26/14) Also, the very concept of bump-firing is a juvenile waste of ammo at best. ZERO chance of accuracy, just a lot of smoke and noise.

Assuming it's done safely, and that's a big assumption, what's the difference between having fun doing that or tractor pulling, NASCAR, riding a Harley or crotch rocket, owning a fast boat or any of a million other things that essentially just make a lot of smoke and noise? As for juvenile, I again turn to the above and another million plus activities from pro-wrestling to turbo diesel dually 1 tons that never haul anything heavier than a 6 pack to Harleys to ATVs to hot cars. Juvenile. If one is a " just a lot of smoke and noise" so is the other.

Someplace down the line we lost our ability to just mind our own darn business!

I have the Hellfire gismos for the 22 and semi-rifles and can't stand them. You have to concentrate so hard to make the things work it's not worth having.

Thanks. I'm a old guy and I love to do things that
make absolutely no sense, especially to my wife.

www.slidefirestock.com/

I have one of the Slide Fire Stocks, they are a lot of fun and provide a way for reasonable accuracy.
