Although it has been nice and warm and dry here in sunny Northern Ireland, I have just been so busy that I am only getting around to planting my maincrop spuds in the garden this evening....The earlies, planted on March 17th are up and no matter how hard I try to keep them earthed up and out of any chance of harm from a late frost....they still keep popping their heads up! I just had to get the planting done this week as the boys are back to school on Monday and will have all sorts of activities to keep them busy without planting spuds!......Sam

Looks like you pull up a good straight bed!! You have autosteer on that Fergie? Ha ha ha.

We just spent the week planting corn on beds with a drawn planter for research plots. I've bounced across them all week when turning on the headlands with that drawn planter with the ultra long tongue. I told the guys at work that when I retired I was going to buy a farm, put it all on beds, buy a long tongued planter, hire a guy to drive it and sit in a lawn chair at the edge of the field and watch the hired hand attempt to turn it around :)

I've heard tales about a lot of potatoes grown here in Florida. Up around Hastings, for one, and there supposedly was an 8,000 acre potato farm south of Melbourne, down near Fellsmere (not Fellsmere Farms). Never saw the potato fields, but did get a tour once - they had a milking herd of 3,300 Holsteins at the time.

Same farm that had the biggest Big Bud tractor that got restored some years back by the Williams brothers in Montana.
