OT Yamaha Golf Car

Last year I bought a Yamaha golf car to putz around the farm on and take to a few shows so I don't have to walk so much. I went to move it last weekend, turned on the key, pulled the choke and stepped on the gas pedal, it popped right off. I let it idle for a few seconds and gave it some gas but it won't accelerate, just idles. Any of you ever have that happen? I was in the middle of another project, so I just pushed it out of the way for now. I need to block it up and open it up to see what's going on. Grandkids are coming this weekend, so I better get it running. Thanks, Chris

Likewise, my grandkids are coming this weekend and if my Yamaha Cart isn't running my name is mud lol they must drive it 100 miles per day when here on the farm.

Look see if the throttle linkage on the carb (from gas pedal to carb) is attached and in place is my first advice.

I am with Onefarmer. You didnt say if the starter was still turning or if just the gas engine was idling. I am thinking that the generator/starter is still turning.

On my G1 yamaha, there is a switch on the pedal to engage the starter, then the cable to the carb. I would have to look under it, but I think there are two cables on the pedal, plus the starter switch.

With it shut off, step on the pedal and make sure the linkage is moving at the carb.

Hope this helps, just a quick brainstorm off the top on my head.

OneFarmer is correct. The pedal cable goes to the rear axle. Those cables are known for braking if the linkage/cable housing is froze up with ice and you try to stomp the pedal.
