weather damage in central Michigan

Last evening we had two fronts come through. Lots of tree damage, powerlines down, building damage. We lost a 120foot radio tower -rated for 120mph winds with greater antenna loads than we had on it. Gravity box wagon overturned. Power still out. Going to be days before they get it back. Ran generator all day to catch up on lost refrigeration overnight. Tomorrow looks like a repeat of today only worse weather for next few days. Lost my internet - antenna was on that tower. Sending this via cell phone.

sure hate to hear that.you realize how dependent we are on electricity when we loose it'hope things get better for ya soon.

They showed that on the news tonight. It was 83°
here today in ne MD. I'm glad we installed a Kohler standby generator in 2012. It ran for 26 hours when Sandy hit the East coast in Oct 2012. We're over 100 miles from the ocean. NJ was hit hard. Hal

Glad to hear you are OK, Ray! Still watching Pol to see your episode...did I miss it? we never got the bad weather down here along I-96. I'm glad, I already have enough friggin trees to cut up!

Was watching that head right for us. But they predicted otherwise, and this time they were right! A warm front from the south pushed everything north. 80 deg F in central NY today!

Consumers. Haven't been real impressed with their service or preventave maintenance. Going to be a while before things are back to normal. Lots of farmers are going to be hurting due to damages, not just power outages. Lots of firewood from some very large trees down. Some broken, Many tipped up by the roots. In short, a mess! A bunch of center pivots damaged.

I was setting in the restraint when it went through, five miles from home. I didn't realize it was that bad until I headed home. Traffic was really heavy then found out I-75 was closed. It had down wires laying across it. Got home and it looked like it snowed with all the hail in the drive and on the lawn.
My power had been out but was back on. After spending x-mas week without power I spent some money and made some changes to my backup system. I figure my power won't go out again now that I'm better prepared.
They didn't get I-75 opened back up until this late afternoon today. There is allot more damage a little west of me. I seen a picture of a grain leg that fell down into a grain bin.
Got luck on your power outage. I know its no fun. I see you are not alone so it may be a while.

Glad to hear you're all still with us Ray!
We didn't get it that bad here, just some hail and high winds.
Had to chase a few things down, but no substantial damage.
Internet was down for several hours last night, back up this morning.
Hang in there, it will get better! :)

Hope you guys that were in the path of that weather are getting back to normal soon. We missed it all down here in southern Michigan.

Somehow I barely skirted both fronts. I had hail for 15 minutes with 20-30mph winds.

Later had 30-40mph for another 15 minutes that was it.

My parents 10 miles south had trees uprooted, one barn blow over, power outages, etc.

I am right off of M-21, west of Flint.

It missed us. We were finishing running the state hunt beagle trial and when I left I could see lightning flashes to the north as I drove south. Looked like when rockets hit on the news. Hope everyone gets restored soon. Did Randy get hit too?

Really big weather system. Just missed us to the southeast. We got maybe a quarter inch of rain no win. Was watching it on the radar picture on my phone.v

We're at the "tip of the mitt" near Rogers City. Lots of rain yesterday and today and maybe some snow later. Hardly any wind at all. Two days ago the ice was gone from Lake Huron. Last night the ice came back - in chunks from somewhere. Must of blown in and clogged all the harbors. Sunny photo is a few days ago showing open water. Foggy-dark photo is last night. No open water. Just huge chunks of broken ice.

The storm got pretty wild for while here. Tore up a house roof half a mile East of here. West of here a bunch of damage. Trees, cars, and some houses. City of Rockford lost power. The lake just South of me lost power, but not here. The wind couldn't figure out which way it wanted to blow.

We didn't get the wind damage, just the power outage. Went off a quarter to six Saturday afternoon. I started the generator about 6 Sunday morning. I'm not sure when it came back. The tractor ran out of gas at 1,I flipped the main back on and the power was back.
