Made a liar out of myself

In my reply to Allen's post I said it's too cold here in northwest Iowa to plant and all we have going on is some anhydrous. Well, sure enough, this morning a neighbor planted a field of corn. He planted into sandy soil that is probably warmer than the surrounding fields so it just might work out for him. I worked 60 acres in low black ground today and it's alarmingly dry, but in the northeast corner of the field under a pile of corn husks, there is frost. Jim

where abouts are you in nw iowa

I am quite a bit south of you and NO corn going in. I think he was a little optimistic, it is going to be colder for a few days.

Made a big circle yesterday at work. Only saw one farmer doing any field work. He had six horses in front of a disk and going a scooting through the field. The ground ranged from dry to wet here at home. Went to two fertilizer places today and they were not doing much yet. I do know of a couple of BTO's that are planting corn, but with 60k acres you have to go non stop. This is in central IL.

I saw a small field today that was planted. I would say just for bragging rights at the coffee shop. West of Rushville IL.

Came across souther Wi. and Ia yesterday to Omaha.
Saw 1 farmer planting and 1 discing and a few
putting on anhydrous. 1 was planting on the Ne.
side.

Jim when I was on the way home from Carroll last night, there was a MX 305 and Kinze planter rolling about 3 miles south of Auburn. He was half done with what looked like an a 60 acre parcel.
