on a delco 10si 3 wire. can you rig it up so that you can use an indicator light with a diode on the exitor (#1 wire) side?

and .. if so, does anyone have a wireing diagram for that?

Thanks.

Don't see why you would want to. But if you are insistent, connect the diode and light in series, doesn't matter which comes first after the switch.
Search the archives for diagrams.

I don't even use a diode. I use a light as an idiot light. I mount it close to the engine so that I can use that light after dark if needed. If I need to check the oil I turn on the key and pull the stick. The light is on so I can see. Goes out once it charges.

I use those replacement interior lights from the auto place.

No need for both, use either a diode, or an instrument size lamp. A lamp is cheaper and doesn't care about polarity.

Just search 10SI Delco wiring under "images".

Use a LED as the indicator light, and put the diode in parallel with that. Set the indicator light so it lights when the ignition supplies voltage to the #1 terminal put the diode in so the band side is toward the alt. Jim

You can't use a diode in that circuit and expect the indicator light to work. The circuit must allow for current flow in both directions as the balance of flow is what causes the light to work.
