Just wondered if any one reads a lot. I read some and sure do like history and sociology and of course anything related to agriculture, tractors in particular. I belong to several of the tractor and implement clubs and enjoy reading their publications. An interesting book that I'm currently reading is "How Christianity Changed the World". What is your favorite topic to read?

The "O Reilly" Killing Kennedy and Jesus books were very good. One I really liked was Flyboys by James Bradley, excellent WW 2 history about the Japanese and their treatment of our Men.

I love to read. Always have. I recommend Roger Welsch tractor books to everyone. Extremely funny and full of good information. His book on outhouses is hilarious.

Nope, but the wife is. We have enough trees in this house to heat it for two long winters. I think she does it just to ingor me.

TV has worn very thin with me; I only watch it when I'm tired of reading and want to give my eyes a rest.

Two novels a week, some mysteries, most science fiction.
Scientific American, and Science News. Plus the Journal Science. Jim

I read every day, almost anything, mysteries a fave. Remember the line from a song "57 channels and nothing on" ? - now it's 240 channels with VERY little on ! ;^)

I read a lot and my wife reads a novel or 2 each week. My tastes are eclectic. Everything from mysteries to finance. Have you read freakonomics?..entertaining. Currently wading thru "Running on Empty" How nnalert and nnalert are bankrupting our future and what Americans can do about it" tough reading, got it at the library.

Read Dick Francis last mystery a week ago.

Also read lots of magazine articles, from Progressive Farmer to Atlantic and several favorite newspaper columnists.

I do quite a bit of reading, currently reading former secretary of defense, Bill Gates memoir book. Most of the time I read Clive Cussler, C.J.Box or Craig Johnson.

I read anything about WWII I can get my hands on. Dad landed in Normandy and almost never spoke of it. So I get what I can through books.

I devour John Grisham books, sometimes in a day. Lately some MN authors, with MN crime themes. Patterson is another author I like. SF books are of interest, usually run across names of people I knew.

Internet kinda took over for me, but I filled a library card back in the day from a tiny church library, and anything science fiction really interests me.

The only books I have ever read are service manuals and I have hundreds. I just never had the desire to take the time to read anything that didnt't teach me something. I don't watch TV either. I work on everyone elses junk for a living and mine for a hobby. No time to sit and read.

I'been a prolific reader my entire life.

History, especially ancient hsitory, is one of my true passions.

Don't read as much as used to. I have the condensed books from Readers Digest from about 1968 until now. Want to buy them? In fact if you take them from my basement shelves you can have them-couple hundred books in all.

Love to read but never find the time. Doing my own gig as IT Supply Chain consultant always on the road.

Now I do audio books - unabridged versions of US history, Stephen King style books and business books.

I like mostly Non-fiction --true story type stuff. But I could be all over the map. Also books I never got to as a kid . I was quite suprised by 20000 Leagues Under The SEa . Jules Verne really predicted alot of things. I grab whatever catches my eye at garage sales. Just read a 1970s book about Elvis by the Mephis Mafia guys [his bodyguards] Being 1970s you have to take it with a grain of salt.I also collect old sign painting books off eBay but there is alot of competition for those . Whatever sells for 25 cents at a sale and based on reality .Novels now and then. I'll get library stuff for General Custer ,Civil War , Jefferson Davis. I guess you could say history is interesting to me. Been given some good Civil War novels too by a co=worker.Magazines of all types but not anything you would see at the dentist office. Auto ,bike , Hemmings . Signcraft, Auto Art . Ol Skool rods., Airbrush Action etc.Too many mags.

Most nights I find myself up reading till about two am in the morning. James Mitchner was one of my favorite authors. Presently reading Bill Clinton's life. Don't agree with all his policies but extremely informative on the real function of government. A thousand pages and every one interesting. Another wonderful read is John McCain's "Character is Destiny." Really would not matter if we owned a TV as we don't watch it much. It would take a fair sized truck to hold the books in my library.

I was an electronics tech for most of my working life. I've done enough technical/factual reading to last me a lifetime.

I read for pleasure, about 99% fiction of various genre's. Lots of SciFi, higher-end detective stuff (Baldacci and his peers) techno-thrillers (Clancy and his peers) political thrillers (Flynn and his peers) and lately some Armageddon novels.

I read at least a few chapters every day, usually in the morning via my Kindle while on the treadmill, and again in the evening before bed, either paper or Kindle.

If I were to go blind, the very first thing I'd do is learn Braille.

I read only non-fiction books. Of special interest to me are World War II spy books and books pertaining to resistance in German occupied areas. One I highly recommend is Operation Zigzag by Ben Macintyre.

I read a lot.....favorite authors Robert Ludlam and John Grisham....like reading books on the Vietnam War....read internet news daily.....keep up on my hobby reading----beekeeping, vineyards, orchard, forestry, natural resources and even tractors.

I don"t have time for TV...and don"t even miss it either..:>)

I used to read a lot---history, Civil War, Michener, Clancy, McMurtry, Grisham, the Jack Reacher series, etc. Now it seems that this dang tractor board occupies most of my spare time.

I"m with fawteen - had my fill of technology too.

I read for pleasure - although I like to read the classics, I find there are a lot of literary references used out in the world that you"d never get if you haven"t read the book they came from.

But I also like more science fiction and murder mysteries.

I used to read about history and military. But now my eyes are not what they used to be. So I watch them now on Direct Tv.

Love to read anything from novels to trade magazines. If it will entertain or educate me, I will read it.

I read an hour or so a day. I read my three tractor mags cover to cover as soon as I get them. I enjoy Cussler, Griham, Clancy, but they are kind of light and fluffy at least that is what my wife tells me. She reads probably three hours a day, and a lot of it is fairly deep stuff. I just finished a book on WWII and just started Robert Gates' autobiography "Duty". I try to read my Bible for a half hour most mornings.

I like to read historically accurate novels and histories of the US, war stories. Mitchener is good a lot historically correct info. For quick reads Patterson"s Alex Cross series was great. CHARLIE WILSON"S WAR was excellent (I think that was the title) and currently reading CRUSADER Bio of Reagan"s war on USSR economy.

I just finished "The Forgotten 500", about a daring rescue of downed airmen in Yugoslavia in WWII. Bombers would get shot up while raiding the oil refineries in Romania and crews would have to bail out over occupied Yugoslavia.

Another good read is "Iron Coffins" By Herbert Werner, one of three German U Boat Captains who fought through the entire Second World War and survived.

Also, "Night Fighter" by Bob Braham, one of Britain's top fighter aces of WWII with 29 confirmed kills, all but one at night. He set another record by becoming a squadron commander at age 22.

I've always been a bookworm. John Grisham and Louis L'Amour are a couple of my favorites for fiction.

Read Grisham,Baldacci ,Michael Connelly and all Sandford and Vince Flynn who I'll miss as he died from cancer last year. He was the very best of them.

Right now I'm into historical novels, preferably about the 100 Years War, but also Crusades and other European history from 900-1700 AD. Some Civil War history, and novels by Michael Crichton, Clive Cussler (yeah they're pap, but fun to read anyway), Ken Follett and a few others.

Don't read as much as I once did. I enjoy history about the automotive and farm equipment industry. Almost anything pertaining to the industrial revolution.

i used to only like to read educational books, but a few years ago a friend got me into reading for entertainment. so now i like to read a variety of subjects, history, mystery, crime, comedy. i noticed a couple of familiar names mentioned from the other reply's. i like to buy paperback books at the goodwill and after i read them, then donate them to the county jail. a few years ago i was falsely accused and spent 15 days in my local county jail. i was glad they had some books to read, but there really wasn't much of a selection so if i see a good book that i already read i still buy it for the jail. i figure within the next few years they will have a well rounded library.the times i like to read is when i know im gonna be stuck waiting somewhere like the dr's office or DH'S doctors appointments. it can take me a day or a mo to finish a book and i love to read myself to sleep. i figure if i can't remember the last paragraph it's time to go to sleep. i was in the hospital after surgery a couple weeks ago and it took me 3 days to read one page cause every time i went to read i fell asleep. right now im reading fall of giants by ken follett. i recently stumbled on clive cussler's first book with dirk pitt's character and all i can say is im glad i didn't read it first, because it would have turned me off to his later series books.

'Brave Men' in progress, then the one before it, etc.

I read all the time many subjects. Recently read the newest Tom Clancy about Russia taking over the Ukraine before it was in the news. Published 2011 I think, guess he knew something!

I used to be a voracious reader. Everything from old farm and ag books to Clancy to Science or Astronomy mag. These days I just don't have the energy to too excited about any of it. And lets face it, Clancy and Louis Lamour are both gone. The current quality of of writing is poor IMO. I do enjoy reading old Country Gentleman, Farm Journal, American Rifleman, Popular Mechanics, stuff like that. As far as the crime novels everyone seems to love to read of watch on tv, you can have it. You deal with 20 years of crime up close and personal and you don't ever want to see it again.

always been a reader
everything, books, magazines, manuals, now internet stuff too.
Favorite is reading on the internet before tackling a repair on something I haven't done before or something being 'difficult'.
Doesn't matter what it is, there are write-ups out there......from someone who has BTDT.
For just entertainment, I've always liked Stephen King books.

A good read for anyone looking to get a good perspective on the challenges facing businesses, is the classic 'Atlas Shrugged".

I've never thought much of Roger Welsh. He was once the so-called entertainment after dinner at a meeting in Grand Island, NE.

He was crude and vulgar to a point where ladies in the audience were visibly embarrassed.

Best thing I can say about Dannebrog, NE is I once inspected a house there on a 95 degree summer afternoon. The lady of the house was doing yard work and invited me into the house for ice cream. Tempting as it was, I had to refuse per company policy on accepting any gifts or favors from clients.
