He let his lease run out didn't he? Then just turned them back in there? I thought that was the way they worded it on AgDay this morning anyway.

We had a similar thing in NM, look up Catron county secession. The BLM raised the price of grazing on "their" land.

Most people referred to the BLM as the bureau of land mismanagement, because the land was so overgrazed. It is horrendous to see what the cattle ranching industry in those states has done to the land.

Turtles aside,mr Bundy's feelings of intitlement to the land is what I disagree with. He talks like since his family has been on the land for generations they have squatter's rights making eviction impossible.

"Mr. Bundy has been in trespass on public lands for more than 20 years," Cannon said, adding that he owes the federal government some $1.1 million in unpaid grazing fees.

don"t agree with him owing money, but they spent $996,000 rounding up some his cattle. bill

I am guessing that by the time this and the deal down in Texas is done, we are going to have another Civil war!

Don't know that there is any of the three sides of this case that I can see eye to eye on......

It seems to be a convoluted story and I don't know if the man has held up his end of the bargain over the years or not but one thing is for certain, the government half of the story is bound to be mostly lies. Whatever the truth may be the feds cannot justify 200 armed agents destroying private property and killing and confiscating a persons livestock.

He is trespassing, the government should seize the cattle until he pays the grazing fees and agrees to the rules.

I do not know the guy and there is always two sides to the story but the facts are he has already lost twice in court and been ordered to remove his cattle. We farm quite a bit of federal land from three federal agencies but have to play but their rules. To me the guy has just been stealing from all of us.

Agreed.

BLM doesn't play nice, they kinda make up the rules as they go along and seem intent on putting all cattle off federal land. Problem is in times passed some of the grazing rights have been sold and now the BLM wants to take them back without compensation. Mr Bundy owes the government money and I don't agree with him declaring 1- we've been here for a long time it's ours (Hmmmm who's paying the taxes on it?) and 2- It's not Federal land it's State owned and we're only going to pay grazing fees to the county. He did bring up an interesting point that the dozen ranches around him are gone. Really have a hard time believing anything the BLM says after some of the stunts they've pulled in the past. They are a Government agency that is responsible to no one, uses intimidation and harassment to get what they want and are not responsible for or have to answer for any wrong doings they are responsible for.

I just saw a story on the Rural Evening News that was a bigger deal than this. It had to do with the BLM and the Texas/Oklahoma boarder. Seems as the river has moved, the border has moved, but now it has moved back to where it was 100 years ago. BLM is claiming that land that is deeded and has been taxed over the years doesn't belong to the original owners now that the river has moved back. They're claiming everything between where it stopped to the south and where it has returned to,to the north. They're taking it with no compensation. That's the story that needs to be followed.

I read that BLM has leased the land out to oil co for fracking ? Either way , way too many hot heads on both sides . BLM with AR15's , footage of them Tasering woman . People provoking them .Lot of people fed up with the government and this may be a spark they were looking for .

My understanding is he has a contract granting him the grazing rights. The BLM decided they would change the contract under the guise that the desert tortus needed the land. He knows what he owes under the original contract but the government refuses to accept payment because they don't want to abide by their original agreement.
