Monday Morning

It's Monday. What does that mean to you.The start of
another week at a job? Just another day on the
farm? A day off 'cause you worked all weekend.Or
are you retired and it doesnt make any difference?

For me it's just another day on the farm except that we do as little work as possible on Sundays so Monday is kind of a back to work day even though I am still in the same place. Yesterday it got up to 43 degrees and was sunny so I finally got out on my bicycle for the first time since November, the longest I have been without riding for at least 10 years. I still hadn't forgotten how, though. This morning I got out at 6 to start up the evaporator, had a good fire and the sap boiling within 45 minutes or so. Took the loader and chains off the Farmall 300 and am heading out now to move some firewood around and haul away goat manure from the snowbank outside the pole barn where it has been piled up waiting till I could get the tractor over there.

just another day at the office. good time to reflect on how the weekend went, and plan projects for next weekend. (weather permitting)

In our area a lot of business are closed Saturday afternoon and Sunday, so it is a day for town runs. Other than that Each day is about the same. Do what has to be done. My schedule is more about what the day weather is. Which means I have on long term schedule. Retired so work 7 days a week.

Yep, I'm a retard........oops I mean I'm retired. Yesterday I bought a (new to me) used computer, so I'm gonna have a little stress today getting switched over. (I don't know if I'll ever be back) I am not too computer saavy.

retired, 3 years now. for me its is great, even with health issues. 44 years of a certain place at a certain time, during uncertain weather, working with uncertain people and arriving home at uncertain times. so today, cloudy, wet and cool in nw alabama; trees are blooming and leafing out, grass is greening up. 3 rd. cup of coffee, soft music on the radio and waiting on sunshine. great day.

Retired last Sept, thought I would have lots of "me" time, not happening. My wife and I care for 3 aging ladies in their homes, her mom and aunt and my mom. 4 homes, 4 cars, 4 yards. Not what I had planned but guess everything will work out, just that all of the ladies went downhill about the same time. I still work in a tractor show or pull now and then, and keep my Jub ready to go. I"m overhauling some old metal lawn furniture this week in my spare time.

This week: Up this morning @ 0425. Shave, shower, suit up, off to work. Shift change @ 0630 +/-. Check weather existing and forecast, weight & balance, astronomical data, winds aloft, pireps, NOTAMS, TFRs, Hazards, Daily Flight Log, check memos, maintenance log and worksheets, risk eval, sign paperwork, ops brief, crew brief, pre-flight. Wait. If I'm luck, I'll be off at 7PM, if not, 9PM. Same all week. Next week out at the farm. Get to sleep in 'til 0530 or so, work until dark. Do my own cooking, cleaning, etc. Get ready for planting. Corn this year. 95 day, same since 1946. Still waiting for global warming to kick in so I can go to 105 day corn. Week after that, up at 0425, shave shower, off to work, etc. It never ends and I love it.

Off to work, if you can call it that- work for myself, 6 1/2 hour day, so its not too rigorous. Probably better than staying at home, where the temptation to do nothing is always present.

Will start drawing SS in August (turn 66), so probably scale back a little more then. I really need to sell my office building, but will get more "motivated" as we head toward August.

Another week at work in the office. I'm 51 and have 31 years with the State and could retire but as things go I've got 5 of my grandkids living with me and do alot for the other 2. I had planned on retireing and playing with my tractors and 11 1/2 acres but can't. It's ok though I'd work until I died for them grandkids and i just thank God everyday that I have a job and am able to take care of them.

Working the oil field this winter, so it is just one more day in a 5 week hitch. Looking forward to next month, take a lay-off and get back to the farm!

I retired back in 1991. But I have lots of things to do around the place. I have three lawn mowers I use every yr. I have service two of them, so I got the other one out and serviced it this morning. Now all three are ready to go.
My grass is growing fast here in E Tx.

Just another day on the road for me, just like yesterday and the day before. Day off tomorrow tho!!

I'm retired and if it weren't for people telling me what day is it I wouldn't know. Especially when someone tells me to have a great weekend. I thank them for reminding me.

Guess it must be a Monday. I'm retared- it's raining pretty good out, and I went to check on the critters this morning, and here's a new calf lying out in the rain- newborn. What is it about a cow that they wait until lousy weather to calve??? He's in the barn now and getting dry and warm. It's the first calf this year, and the first from this bull. After all of the navel trouble we had last year, it (hopefully) is now behind us. This was this bulls' first calf- nice looking - and feisty- little bull calf.

Finished cutting off all the branches from a pine tree that snapped at the 2/3 height in Super Storm Sandy

Thank God for calendars , If I didn t mark off the days I would be in trouble since I retired or retarded its just another day . Nothing pressing for the day except Dr. appointment or such .
Wonderful to be retired and have nothing to worry about.

I'm semi-retired and this morning spent time getting stones out grass by the back lot at our church. The guys that plowed the new stone lot got carried away and left a mess. I have 2 old 2 wheel tractors that work good for some things, like this. I rounded up the stones into 4 piles to cart back onto the lot. Ground's too soft for heavy equipment.

After retiring really don't like weekends, too many places are closed. Really strange after 40 years hopeing to just survive the week days to live free on the weekends. Also holidays aren't the desired/great panacea they were when you working for someone else or when attending school.

It's Monday? Thanks for reminding me! Seriously, since I retired I have trouble keeping up with which day it is. I guess if I could afford to be out and about more it would make a difference, but the price of gas keeps me pretty close to home. As someone mentioned, being retired does have its drawbacks. You don't have Friday or payday to look forward to, you don't look forward to all the holiday days off or a weeks vacation now and then. But I can suffer through that as long as I don't have to punch a time clock. At least I can mostly make my own schedule and choose what I want chore I want to tackle next.

Retired, so it doesn't make much difference as long as I don't forget a medical appointment.

We kind of have loose appointments on Wednesday & Thursday for things that we like to do, but we're flexible on those.

I use my cell phone, Time and date. Be lost without it.

I even figured out how to use the calendar on phone to remind me I have to be someplace, like the Dr.

I have a long time to retire. I'm only 29. Iv been hanging 5/8 sheet rock over head for the last 4 days. Then home to help the wife with the 10 week old boy.

just another work day been on 12 hr 6 days a week since last week of Dec. getting old real quick, don't see a light at the end of the tunnel some a$$hole keeps turning it off

I have been off my job since December 6th, so Monday dosent mean anything to me since then, I'm pretty sure the chickens, cows and horses don't know what day of the week it is either, lol! I will be going back to work soon.

I’m retired, but find much to do out here on our land. I’m about 35 miles from town and I try to limit my trips there to two a month – not like when I worked, as I had to commute every weekday. It feels so much more relaxing now that I can sit back and let the world leave me behind as it careens its way into the future.

It means the bank and feed store are open so I can get my feeders filled up and my account emptied. Other than that, just another day.
