OT - Anybody Watching NCAA

I thought the coverage was pretty strange-----like the camera wasn't allowed to show the Wisconsin bench or coach. Blue, blue and more blue.

Sorry you looked at my post there "old timer".
Seemed like it was a good game to me.

Jim at 60 years old/young!

I would get more enjoyment watching sap ooze out of a tree! I have never liked sports. Never seen an entire Basketball, Football, or baseball game, & always mute, or turn the TV when sports is on the news. & I wont go to someones house when I know that is what they are going to do!

I live in Kentucky, went to UK, but you sure won't find me rooting for UK. Their basketball program is just a bit too "professional" for my liking. With a coach that has a long history of rules violations and a program that has a LONGER history of major rules violations, I just can't get behind them. So I guess I'm a UCONN Husky fan on Monday.

Jim,I watched last night. The NCAA tournament is some of the best basketball you will see. I didn't think Wisconsin could stay with Kentucky when the game started, but they played great. Kentucky just has great athletes. Ok, they will be "one and done" when the year is over, but they are great athletes. Should be a good game with UConn.

Agreed, 2 Old.

I'm one fo the "anybody but Kentucky" folks but did predict that they would win it all once they got by Wichita State. They have peaked at the perfect time.

U Conn is certainly a wild card, already winning three games that I thought they would loose, but UK simply has too many pre NBA majors.

I didn't notice Kaminsky but with 5.4 on the clock and a full court press, there was little time for much more than a dribble drive jump shot.

Reminds me a bit of the Gordon Hayward's last second 40 footer against Duke three years ago.

Wish that one had gone as well.

There are literally Thousands of places on the internet where people can go to discuss their games and hundreds of radio and tv stations where they can listen to all sports, all the time.
There are newspapers and magazines devoted to sports and apps for your smartphone you can use to keep up on your games and sports talk.
Is there any place left in America where the pollution of sports hasn't occurred?
No haven from the sports nuts?
No sanctuary from your silly games?

You talk hunting here on this antique tractor site so whats the difference?Anyone reading this post can clearly see its about sports if you don't like the subject don't click on it works like a charm.

you are safe on your tractor if it does not have a radio ,lol ...had the game on tv on while visitin last nite , and saw the winning last plays ,,sports nuts is far better than everyone going nutz warring against one another ,, now ,think about it ,, for those without dreams or motivation that are simply followers ,there is a tremendous amount of energy and frustration, and anxiety vented that could be used in worse ways against kind members of society ,////on the contrary ,, most folx on this forum have full lives and don't need anyone tellin them how to live and have a mind of their own , and don't live thru someone elses atheletic ability ,,. they have a life

Must be quite a few the NCAA finals are some of the most watched programs on TV whether thats a good thing is debatable but lots of people watch none-the-less.

I used to talk about hunting.
Then realized I should practice what I preach and quit that. You wont see a hunting post from me or even a reply to one for years now.

Years ago in a far-away land, I was in a math class and the subject came up as to why a neighboring school always won the honors in math and science competitions. The awareness award came suddenly to me when a 9th grade football player summed it all up:

"That don"t make no difference on account of the fact that our football team always beats their football team!"

Now that I understand what is important in life, I no longer worry about the moral and financial problems of our country because my sports teams can beat yall"s sports teams and that makes me feel like a winner!

(Yeah, I know - I am just like a reformed smoker! I not only played football and basketball, I even coached for a few years. Now I am a decrepid old man who goes thru life preaching that Shawshank line about "Get busy living or get busy dying!" But it works for me.)

I think the anouncers were pro Kuntucky during the entire game. Seemed like thay didn;"t know the Wi team was even there. Got sick of their constant harping on the Kentucky boys and turned the the game off and swithched to watching the Disney channel.

Me too

Me too!

Except for college football, I don't get worked up over sports much. And I'm cooling off on college football.

I once had a kid work for me part time who was a local football star all through high school. After he finished high school, he enrolled in a local university, but continued to work for me part time.

When I asked him if he was going out for football in college, he replied, "Nah. I got to thinking about it, and I decided why should I get my brains beat out when I don't even get any academic credit for it".

I think the kid was onto something.

Wow when did public arson become a acceptable form of sportsmanship. I guess we know why KY lags the nation. Most UK fans could not find the classrooms on campus and never attended. Speaking as with a BS and Ms from UK

I watched some. Was more interested in UConn as we live approximately 20 minutes from there and SWMBO is a alumni.Hopefully the women can win tonight.SWMBO is a season ticket holder for them.

I don't see how a team can feel like they're on top of the world when they win by 1 point and the other team missed a shot at the buzzer that could have gone in as easily as not. To me the close ones are all luck.

Well written and well crafted movie, there was some content there for sure, and that line is not a bad one to remember once in awhile ! What I enjoyed most is how Andy Dufresne stuck it to the man, that was the best, certainly was some interesting character portrayals by the actors. Some fool recently tried to find that beach in the movie, and he disappeared in mexico, likely banditos, there are areas you do not want to go to in mexico, you're a sitting duck, I've been there myself, I'll stay on this side of the border LOL !

The thing with sports and competion today has lost a lot of its roots and meaning. I played sports for a good part of my life, for the fun of it, mostly for the good exercise and health benefits. I watched some of the NCAA, don't have time to sit in front of a tv for very long, and don't like to anyway, but its nice to catch a good game, or watch a favorite team play, or even go to the game which is rare but I do go on occasion, its fun. I'd rather play though, pick up basketball, hockey in the winter, with friends, its very good for a person, relieves stress, keeps you fit, and its fun, you don't realize any of it because you are busy having some fun.

Collegiate and professional sports have too many extraneous things associated or going on with it today, big business, not for the love of the game or the true sporting competition, education is still priority in my book, if you have what it takes to make it to that level, you should still garner all the education you can get.

One thing I won't do is sit inside on a nice day to watch a game or go to a bar, forget it, I'll record it or forget about it.

I do like to play a NCAA bracket, watch some of it, weather is usually not so nice and its fun to see how you do or see some of the games that turn out to be really good competition between the teams, like was mentioned close ones do take some luck. 2 years ago, I picked both teams that made it to the championship game, and picked kentucy to win which they did, just dumb luck, but I still did not even win or place in the pool,LOL !, darned sham LOL, but I enjoyed it regardless. Sports has its place, it should be for the love of the game, fair competition and exercise. Collegiate, professional and even olympic sports seems to lack this in varying degrees, so if you are a spectator, you have to watch with a grain of salt. Even high school sports has lost some touch with reality, given the ways things are today, it used to be for the building of character, comradery, win lose or draw, coaches were good mentors, preparing kids for life, thats what it should be about.

I am from KY so of course I follow college basketball. Especially our beloved Cats! Our entire town looks like a ghost town when a UK game is on. For the past 2 weeks everywhere I go, there are hundreds of UK fans sporting their Kentucky apparel. It looks like the game is going on just down the street.

I admit I was a doubter at the end of the season, but those young guys have really turned it around. Win or lose tonight, I am definitely proud of them.

For those frustrated by the tv coverage....There were 3 stations carrying the game Sunday. One had a UK media team, one had a Wisconsin media team, and the other was an unbiased network broadcast team. Of course I watched the UK version with the great Rex Chapman (Owensboro, KY native and UK great).
