Looking for a brakesmart or max brake trailer brake controller. Evidently max brake dropped off the radar in the last couple months, wondering if anyone knows of someone with old stock, or a used unit. Got a new truck, and I have rebuilt my old Kelsey-Hayes unit a few too many times to trust it in another truck![/list]
 
Not much help finding parts. However, if you can't fix yours I'm very happy with my premius IQ controller.

think if I can't find a max brake, I'll stick with the old Kelsey-Hayes, either rebuild mine or find another one. All three of these work off the brake line pressure of the tow vehicle, so as soon as you get on the pedal you have trailer brakes. Works a lot better in our hills than the accelerometer style, where you actually have to be slowing down with the truck brakes to get the trailers to kick in. Can take a heck of a lot of truck brake just to hold a constant speed on a 8% grade, much less slow down.
 
MAX BRAKE did stop making them they were the best control I ever used they were a little high in price but well worth it.
 
sounds like a Kelsey-Hayes style. They sold them under lots of names. The brake smart and max brake are a newer take on the same idea. Instead of a hard line to the controller in the cab, they use a solid state pressure sensor at the master cylinder. They can be used on air brake systems as well, just substitute an air pressure sensor.
 
The built-in brake controllers in newer trucks have put a bit of a hurting on brake controller sales. Wish I could have bought about a dozen before they quit making them.

'm hoping someone, somewhere bought a dozen of 'em.
