vertigo suffers

This maybe helpful to some vertigo suffers,as it help me.Suffered form dizziness 10 + years. Two or three times a year severe attacks. Was informed my a friend, that my chiropractor could help, he used cold laser on my ears, had 6 sessions, 5 years ago. Am still fine. tks

A Chiropractor lasered your ears?? I wouldn't let an ENT laser my ears!! It begs the question... although you are cured from vertigo, can you hear??? LOL!!

BTW, I had a severe bout of vertigo about 5 years ago, dizzy and throwing up so bad I could not work for 3 weeks. Not a pleasant experience, to say the least!

i get it about once a year.never know how severe it will be untill its over.i usually have a day or two most of the time just mild dizziness and very tired.

You better go to the doctor and get checked out. Don't sound normal to me.

I got vertigo one time about 29 years ago. I was working up to taking the big test for my working field profession. It was the highest certification level and there was only about a 30% pass rate on it. A few days before the exam, I kept getting dizzy and when I would lay down it would get better. I finally went to the Dr. and he said it was vertigo. I did not even know what that was. He said if you are under a lot of stress, it can cause it. I was and it did. He gave me some pills and I was better in a few days when the exam rolled around. I passed with flying colors...one of the few I might add. I was so glad when that was over with. Whew

Its called Labrynthitis, the way it was explained to me.
Vertigo has many causes but this type is caused by infection of the bone behind the ear. In my wife's case, the infection was from a root canal that was breeding all sorts of baddies. What the cold laser apparently does is to stimulated the area so that more inflammation fighting ATP is produced locally to clean it up. She too had about 5 or 6 sessions (15 minutes each) and now she can sleep through the night without any dizziness.

I have had Meniere"s Disease for around 20 years and sometimes have episodes of vertigo. They are awful, but have always eventually passed. They typically last about 3 hours, but one lasted 3 days. I have had 2 operations and tried numerous other remedies, but nothing seems to really help. With time and lessening stress, my episodes of vertigo happen somewhat less frequently, but still occur, usually at the least handy times. Luckily, I can feel them coming on a half hour or so before they hit, or I wouldn"t dare drive anymore. Meniere"s caused me to have to retire much younger than I had planned.

I explain vertigo to others like this: most people at one time or another have been drunk. I ask them to remember how they felt the drunkest they ever were in their life and then multiply that feeling 4 or 5 times--that is how vertigo feels to me. Or imagine how you would feel in a small rowboat on the roughest sea imaginable. You know that the bed or floor is not moving, but it feels like it is moving violently. Vertigo is awful.

I go to a chiropractor several times a year because sometimes joints get a little out of place. I get instant relief when my chiropractor manipulates the joints in my back, hips and neck.

But it concerns me when I read about a chiropractor doing things other than manipulating joints, suggesting exercises and MAYBE some nutrition recommendations. A chiropractor is licensed to do those things, probably not more.

I don"t know what a "cold laser" is. In my reading about lasers for the last 50 or so years, I have never run into that term. "Cold Fusion" was talked about some years ago, and that ended up being a fiasco and a sham.

Lasers are used in some kinds of surgery and other therapies, including burning off tattoos and removing unwanted hairs. But my understanding of how they do this involves pulses of laser light, which produces intense heat for a moment, vaporizing tissue. If I was thinking about having some laser therapy done to my ears, at least the inner part of my ears, I would sure want to be darn sure the person doing the procedure knew exactly what they were doing. I would doubt that a chiropractor would be qualified to do ear surgery and suspect that a chiropractor doing ear surgery might be guilty of malpractice.

Over the years I have researched possible remedies for the problems associated with Meniere"s. I will research further the suggestion of "cold laser" treatment.

If what the chiropractor did caused you to no longer have dizziness and vertigo, that is wonderful! But if the problems come back, I suggest that you see the best ENT doctor in your area to try to get the cause of your dizziness diagnosed. Maybe they can help you. I have just had to learn to live with the problems...I was dizzy this morning and am often really quite deaf now. But they tell me that Meniere"s will never kill me.

Chiropractors are great for manipulating joints and can be a real help that way. But they are not ear specialists. Hope your dizziness problems stay away. Good luck!

The physical therapy clinic I occasionally go to claims they have a therapist who is pretty successful at helping a person get over it but I haven't tried them yet. I get it a couple times a year and it is maddening. I have a light case now but not bad enough to get treatment. I'm dizzy in the morning but by late afternoon I seem to be stable again. It is NOT fun! Jim
