Want to put steel roofing on my round roofed barn. Is there any type steel that the ribs will take a bend? Shingles just do not get along wind on the high round part. Any ideas I would be thankful for. Mark

I had a similar problem a few years back. I used regular corrugated steel but ran the corrugations horizontally. Worked for me.

THere are two barns, a mile in each direction from me, that have had steel installed on round roofs. Both used regular-looking steel, and look very nice.

Someone who does roofing of barns should know what products to use.

Where are you located?

We live in a converted round roof barn and I put shingles on the back in 2002, the front was done in the late 90s. So far they have held up well, and we do get 60+ mph wind gusts from time to time. I used 6 nails per shingle. I have wondered about a metal roof but didn't know how well it would work. I would just buy an 8' sheet of galvalume and try it, maybe screw down the top end and walk it down with screws, just to see if it will conform to the bend.

Mark,
I used to work farm construction years ago and put a lot of steel on round roof barns. I know there is on steel company called "Wheeling" manufacturing. They make a style called panel drain. This works great for any round rood building. Hope this helps you.

I covered a round one once.Used corrugated steel , we used a fifty five gallon drum.Takes two people, just roll it back and forth while pushing down on the ends. Applied it with roofing screws. Be careful, there is a section that is hard to get to on that kind of roof.Used a ladder from bottom and could walk down so far from the top.

i went to menards and bought their galvanized steel, the thinner stuff, bent right around the round roof real nice. i think the sheets were 27ft long. didnt pre bend, just started at the top and fastened it with screws on the way down, bending on the way. went right over the t-loc shingles. had a guy on the otherside of town who does standing seam roofs. asked for a estimate, he new the barn and said $20,000. i said dont you need to measure it? nope 20,000. neighbor did most of the work, we helped. 68ft. round roof and a 40ft reagular barn cost 4400 total. bout 15 years ago
