Got the Sport Trac back

After an estimate of over $8500 to fix some plastic damage,we just got the wife's Explorer Sport Trac back from a different shop. The final bill,$1,732. I had to pay $50 of that. The thing that stunned me was how clean the inside is. The whole thing looks like new inside and out. They didn't just vacuum it out, they cleaned the seats and all. They must have half of that $1700 just in to labor detailing that thing. I sure wasn't expecting that.

good deal randy, glad they got you all fixed up!! we detail all our customer vehicles here too before delivery. also, check all lights, fluid levels and tire pressures. you have to keep the customers happy to maintain repeat business.

A friend got a solid 10 years out of one of those a '04, mechanically maintained, but living up on the mountain, road salt and all that, just traded if off for a new F150, but that was one seemingly decent vehicle, he used to fill the box with firewood and haul 30 miles when he was at his folks farm. Turned out to be a good one, hopefully yours is the same, well worth repairing etc.

Wish every shop cared enough to do that!

I've seen too many body shops send out the sloppiest work imaginable... Out of sight, out of mind... Loose, missing bolts, brackets, crushed, burned wiring harnesses, anything to turn a quick buck!

You are a rare exception indeed! Thanks!

Ya,it's an 02. We bought it new. It's got 276,000 miles on it. That 4.0 engine went bad a year ago. We bought one out of a wreck with 119,000 miles on it for $700 and put that in. It's still going strong otherwise. Been about the most trouble free vehicle we've ever had. We did notice that the salt is getting to one rear spring shackle though.

My friends had to be up over 130k miles, I forget now, but at least it gave him a bunch of years with no payment, still ran great, just the front fender had a blowout when he washed it last LOL ! He had no trouble with it, but we did do brakes, rotors and wheel bearings I think on that one over the years he'd stop in and work in the heated garage, hard to believe so much time has passed. Seemed to be a good vehicle for sure.

One funny note, when he first got it, was hunting season and we had gone into the rural roads near their farm, which is 15 minutes east of where I am. Its still rural and there are mountainous areas near them, one old wagon trail near state land, we went up and it had ice, now he had enough track to barely get past but decided to stop, uphill, figured it best to turn around, could have made it, but it was getting a little scary ! Well it was slick, got out to assess the situation, guided him along and boy we got er turned around, that part of it could have gone wrong, not a scratch luckily, short wheel base paid off there. We were not off roading, just got sucked into a situation you could not see LOL ! Nice little truck, he hauled a lot of small loads of firewood with it, figured I'd mention it, with you having one of these, we'll never forget that day for sure LOL !
