IH 384 steering is jerky sometimes, any suggestions?

Howdy all my 384 is every once in a while very jerky and a little hard to steer and its typically when steering to the right. I assume its using the same hydraulic fluid as the three point or loader and those work fine. It comes and goes and I really dont have a clue where to look or what to look for. Help would be appreciated, Im thinking of selling this tractor and want it to be in as good of condition a 30 year old tractor can be if I decide to sell afterall. have you changed the hydrauilic filter?
if the filter is pluggged it will bypass and let dirt into the control valve.

IH 384 steering is jerky sometimes, any suggestions?
