Durango Colorado.... What's the weather like ?

I have a job taking me there in the mini rig and gooseneck. Never been there just trying to figure what to pack in and for the truck. When its dropped I will have a empty 30' trailer ........ I better leave my spare money home. How is it going thru Denver or is there a better way coming from SE MI .

Super trucker, I live in Lyons C0 and go to Durango CO at least once a year. The weather is great today however you should bring some snow gear. The weather can change within hours and you could wind up with several inches of snow on the ground. I would bring Tire chains due to you will have to go over wolf creek pass and it can be very dangerous.
Lots of good restaurants and brew pubs if you like that stuff. Going thru Denver is easy as long as you miss rush hour. Take I 25 south and pick your route.

Tom

I appreciate the info. Trying to find tire chains for a pick up in Mi will be fun. Might have to buy them on the run. I was thinking on coming thru Kansas and by passing Denver.

I don't mind going through Denver, even with a trailer on. Pueblo and the 'Springs SUCK!!!! Denver, you hit your signal, crowd em a bit, and they give you room, The Springs and Pueblo, they cut you off no matter what.

Super Trucker,
If you go thru Kansas, I 70 im guessing, take a slight left at Limon and head to CO springs, take I 25 to Walsenburg and head west over laveta pass. That is the way we go. Only once in the last 15 years, Laveta pass was closed on the way home and we had to take the back roads home. We go down every march for spring break and ski purgatory ski area.
If you have time try to ride the Durango Silverton train.

Tom

just came thru Silverton with a pkup, that was a trip, do as tom in co said or you can act like a super trucker coming in from the north. DALE

I've been over the TOP, West of Denver with Flammables and NO Jake, in the dark, Full Gross limit with a Pete...

Wouldn't advise that every day..!

Ron.

i went through durango in the early 80's on vacation with a friend. what a cool little town. i could of spent a couple days chillin there, but it wasn't a planned stop so we partied, crashed and booked the next day :)

I would 2nd that, I've been to Purgatory, Silverton rail line and Durango, nice place, Purgatory was a real exceptional treat for an east coast skier LOL! I was there in mid march, '95 was a blast to ski that place, just don't be on the back or far side of that place when the lifts shut down, or you'll be in for a long evening, have a long walk in ski boots or who knows, the horizon seems to go on forever, not a place to wonder in the deep snow of winter LOL !
