Pole Barn Bar Stool

I saw one like this at an arts and crap shop in Boulder City. If nothing else I think it looks neat next to the tractors in the Pole Barn. If weld breaks I will have a DIY colonoscopy.

Looks good George.
Depending on how high the seat is you could weld a couple of brake pedals from your favorite brand of tractor onto the pipe to rest your feet on.

Brother collects those old implement seats to make chairs like that. Usually an old disc blade, then he comes up with different ideas to place between base and seat. One was an old cam shaft, and old auger flighting, chains, just about whatever a person could think of.

did a couple using front suspension coil springs from old car. Lots of pounds per inch in vertical but not much resistance to "tilt", soo.........need to be fully sober to sit on those two!

Not trying to be an AH here, but, I would go back and do more grinding on the disc blade and, weld, then run another bead connecting the pipe to it.
I would hate to see the weld brake while your were enjoying your favorite barley pop and waste a good brew.
HeHe.

I have a couple of these seats and am thinking about making stools. I'm wondering if a centerlink or leveling box link might be used as a height adjuster.

Some guys re-purpose disk blades to make a base for a pedestal mounted barrel for a dog coop. Dogs seem to really like barrels.

We want to see the finished product after sandblast, primer and red and black paint and Super M decal.

Dad built some of them probably 40 yrs. ago. One of the handiest things around the shop. From experience though, I will say you will need more bracing of some sort or it will collapse when you least expect it. The neighbor built one with a swivel seat, which was really handy. I also built one on the base of an old cream separator with a swivel seat.

Rick,

Just use your disc blades. The one on the bottom like the picture. The one on the top, offset the disc blade and dish it up. It would make a perfect seat.

George Marsh,

It's neat - I like your base!!

Husband built one out of a JD seat with adjustable height and foot rest - but the base is too small and it is "tippy".

Once flipped-backward on the lawn but managed to hang onto my grilled rib eye supper. LOL.

You beat me to it . My wife wants me to make 4 of them to put around the bar on our deck but I haven"t found the pan seats yet .
