Hi guys , planning a road trip this summer and would like to find a city where there are tractors, old cars , trucks etc. museums. Some one told me , lower Ohio and Des.Moines Iowa are good places to go. I live in Northern Ontario

Minden NE has the history of the pioneer museum. You'll have a hard time seeing it all in one day. The Stuhr museum is not too far from that in Kearney I think.

Thanks. I wasn't sure which town it was at, could have sworn it was Kearney. Not even 7:30 and I'm wrong already :( better just go back to bed :)

The Gilmore car museum in hickory corners , mi. The cars and barns are worth the stop alone. They have a tractor show there at some point in the summer. Not sure of the date, but if you're going to be around there I'd look it up.

Heartland Museum in Clarion Iowa. Just west of I-35 on Iowa highway 3. Open Wed, and Sat afternoons from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Or by appointment, call 515-602-6000 to set up a personal tour.

Fountain,Mn. Collection of Oliver tractors. Amana Colonies, Iowa. Barn full of Moline tractors and machinery.

Don't remember exactly where it is, bit it's on I-29 just north of Omaha in Ia. There is a couple of small truckstop/cafe's there. Lot's of nice MM stuff here.

If you get as far west as California, check out the Heidrick Ag History museum in Woodland, just north of Sacramento. Lots of Holt and Best crawlers.

On your way down south there is a mueseum in Milton Ontario just west of Toronto.
There is a private collector near Brockville Ontario by the name of George Tackaberry construction. Heading to Tackaberry's this Wednesday with our senior diesel mechanic's class

Barnacopia - Polo, IL. New barn construction using post and beam. Huge place with antique cars and restored JD tractors and implements. One 8N sunk in the floor as you walk in with glass over it (and you can walk on the glass!). Has a big cupola with a rotating JD 70 in it. Very cool place!

Pierz, Minnesota, Agricultural history Museum, including a blacksmith shop and a 1940's International Harvester/ McCormick Deering dealership complete with sales counter, Catalogs, price list, some new old stock parts, tractors and machinery Contact: 320-468-6474

Wow ! thanks guys for all that good info. I need to plan a circular road trip and take in all those museums . Maybe I will leave the bride at home L.O.L.

I'm surprised no one mentioned JD headquarters and pavillion in
East Moline, IL. All the factory tours are free too, including the
tractor plant in Waterloo, IA. They do have to be scheduled in
advance though. Nice time if you've never been.
Lots of other attractions in the area too, like Rock Island Arsenal.
John Deere

I can also second some of the other great places mentioned.
Auburn, IN - go to one museum and they give you passport to
get discounts at the others. ACD Museum
Dale's AC Museum Dale Haymaker
The tractor show starts June 27th at The Gilmore Museum

Been to pioneer village myself. Yes, very hard to see everything in one day. Especially if you take your time and read about the items. Might be a 2 dayer if you like to do that. I might add that tractors is just a part of this museum. Your going to see about anything imaginable at this place. Anything from barb wire, to kithcen stoves, to tractors, to vehicles, steam engine, this is quit a place. And its been years since I have been there. I am sure there is more stuff there now.
