Tx Jim - need your R-39110 expertise again

I have the worst leaking block off the tractor to install the AR82570 kit but have a couple of questions.

How to remove plugs (#8) and best way to remove the retainer rings that hold the innards in? Started to use a couple of small bladed screwdrivers and thought better before the ring went flying across the barn somewhere. I'm sure I have the repair manual somewhere in addition to a parts manual but my wife has been out in the shop organizing things to help me again :-{

Help/ tips appreciated.

Politely tell the wife that the fastest way to a divorce is to "organize" a mans shop. It may look like a disaster area but we know where everything is.

I think you are asking about how to remove welch plug. I used a center punch,drove a hole in the plug and then just popped plug out. The C-clip are little boogers to R&R. I use needle nose pliers and a smaller flat bladed screw driver. Many of those C-clips have been lost during dis-assembly. I've seen/used a special tool for installation of C-clip.

Since your wife likes to help in your shop you might ask her to help you install the C-clips. That will give both some "quality bonding time". :lol:

More like "quality bondage time" as "helping" and "supervising" mean the same thing thing to women. I'd think after 43 years she would give up trying to organize and domesticate me.

Thanks for the tip on removing the welch plug, too!

Partly my fault as I forgot to renew my female shop repellent. Stoddard solvent, carburetor dip, or diesel fuel. They hate those smells and sends them packing. She got mad once because I used the dining room table to install replacement glass and the weatherstrip seal in a cab door. I even used a couple of the living room rugs to keep from scratching the table and took off my muddy boots so what's the problem? Go figure.
