where is the timing pin/window on the engine of the 4630? how do you find #1cyl TDC without removing valve cover? i know where the fuel pump window is.

You need the john Deere tool goes in back right side of bell housing locks flywheel back behind the breather hose they make a tool to spin motor to good luck gotta love green

5/16 drill bit shank makes a good 'tool'.You REALLY need a book.To complicated to go 'bookless' on this.

I"m all in favor of a TM, but this is NOT a complicated machine to time. It"s as simple as it gets.

Rotate engine in direction of rotation "til the timing marks (visible after removing a pipe plug) nearly line up, then SLOWLY turn a bit more "til the timing pin (drill bit) drops in place and the marks are lined up.

That"s all there"s to it.

R+R the IP, then go through the procedure again to verify the marks line up as it"s slowly brought back to TDC, which makes sure the geartrain is in the "loaded" direction and the marks are still aligned.
