Hmmmm, I Need An Umbrella.....

Well I had another one of my oh so glorious thunks, I NEED and umbrella to protect me from, well, the rain...

This farm we went to Monday had an umbrella and frame, the cloth part of it said New Holland, so I didn't think twice, but after thinking twice, I suspect that all of the old style umbrella posts are the same, and just the cloth part is brand specific?? It was in great shape, and I think I can get the whole thing for $20.00, so should I go for it?

If I was to get it, I would want it on my Super C. That is going to be my work horse all summer, I am going to have all of my little chores around the house, plus my wheat project, plus it will be used to rake about 100 acres of hay at the neighbors, so I would like a sun shade!!

Sooo, does anyone know where and how to put an umbrella on a Super C??? THANKS!! Bryce

Bryce:

Since I don't have a Super C, I'm just taking a wild stab at this, but I would mount a piece of pipe vertically on the inside of the fender above the rear axle to drop the umbrella pole into. Hope this helps.

Those old umbrellas are much stronger than the new ones we buy today. The wires on the new ones are brittle and break after a few bouts with the wind. Jim

Some of the older tractors used a bracket that was bolted under the seat and the pipe from the umbrella was clamped in it...but if you don't have that style seat, that doesn't help much lol.

make a bracket to mount it behind the seat. You dont want it mounted to the spring mounted part of the seat as it will make the seat bounce all over and dont mount it to the steering post either just get a brcket made to fasten to the top of the tranny behind the seat

Not so much for rain protection as they are for sun protection. That summer field work can get hot. A little portable shade goes a long way.

We have a couple of the umbrella types and while they're ok, the buggy style will give more shade. They're don't have that "vintage" appeal, but they will be more functional.

My opinion.
