vicon pendulum spreaders

Any one use a modern one? I used one years ago,
very accurate, but only 30ft spread i thing...
might have been 25ft, can't remember... Anyway
looking at a newer one, something that can do 40ft
minimum, but have heard that the early 40ft
spreaders had issues with reliability...

Anyone use one? Looking to spread some fertilizer,
and some seed (turnips and the like for grazing),
don't need a big machine, or want to spend a
fortune.

I have one for about 20 years.I spread at 36 feet,3 width of grain drill. A very reliable unit. There is two settings one narrow width one wide spread.I have it set on wide.Hope this helps. Lloyd

I have a newish one mid 90"s - with the long spout it does at least that. There are at least 3 spout lengths though so be careful if buying used.

I had one years ago. One thing I liked is that it did not throw fertilizer back onto your tractor. Plus the fiberglass body did not rust out. If you take care of them, keep them greased and wash out thoroughly after use, they will last longer than metal ones.

Be careful with the one with no grease nipples on the bearings. They were a good accurate spreader, and good for sowing grass seed, but once they get a bit noisey you need new nylon bearings. Bezzechi were a better 'wag-tail' sower, the bottom end runs in an oil bath gearbox. We are all over to twin disc sowers now.....suits tramlines better. I just finished sowing my fertilizers today......you can borrow my spreader as long as you have it back in 6 weeks time!.....The pic is from last year!............Sam

Sam, i was waiting for you to reply... used a lely centreliner years ago on the spud far in herefordshire i worked on... 24m tramlines, it was a great unit.

Here, 3ph spreader far few and far between, and often expensive, lots of trailed type machines that spread 40ft, but they are no good once the crop is tall (discs are too low). I'm looking for a lower cost machine, that is reliable, had heard that the wider spread vicon wag tails were prone to vibrating themselves to bits...

I would love your spreader (KRM?)... and sure you can have it back in 6 weeks!!

Send me an email... it's open...

My friend who I get my fertilizer from lets me use his twin disc tandem. Get it all done in a few hours and no handling. Then go to the gym and work out.
