I need blades for my jd 709 rotary cutter. Will blades sold at a farm supply store work and be as good as those from the jd dealer? Thanks!!!!

Probably very close. One thing I found out about a 709- just cut the bolts off with a heat wrench and replace them. Knock the heads out and make sure you get the same kind- so far I have found about three or four different types of shoulders used....

Last year I changed the blades on my '83 JD 709 rotary mower and reused the old blade bolts & nuts with no problem and the shoulders on the bolts were worn very little. I applied PBblaster and removed the nuts with an air impact wrench.

Jim, mine get so bonged up from stones that the
threads look like they were set with a sledge
hammer. They ain't cheap, but after busting a
couple or sockets and a maximum effort witha
persuader and an ample amount of cussing, we gave
up and cut them off. So, I just naturally cut them
off now....
