Frost in your area

Here in NW Iowa, the frost seems to coming out nicely. How about in your area? We were kinda thinking of doing a little plowing this coming weekend to exercise the old tractors. Have to see though how tough it is. I have seen some guys putting gas on around the area.

Helped my sometime employer (he calls when he needs a hand) dig a water main last week, 7 feet of frost under the street... it'll take a while for that to come out...

The weather guessers are "forecasting" above freezing daytime highs for the end of the week... time will tell it they and/or their million dollar super computers are correct... i'm sort of hoping they are...

12 inches of snow crust and still running water to keep from freezing pipes in the city main!! More than 50 days below Zero here this winter, so we have frost in St. Cloud MN. Jim

I am going to take bobcat out in the timber in the morning and haul wood. It is supposed to be in the teens tonight and below freezing all day.

There seems to be no frost in the ground here because we have three feet of snow for insulation. It was -15 here this morning. The only plowing we will be doing for the next month is snow plowing. Maybe in May.

Very little frost where the snow hasn't been disturbed, but 7'-8' under the city streets, according to city workers. We still have about 2' of snow in the fields, so it's going to be a while before any field work starts here.

here in ec wis the tile lines are running which supprised me, as i still have a waterline to the heifer shed froze up for the last 6 weeks

Sw wisc water lines thawed water going again. strip grazing stockpiled grass (happy critters some fresh grass) frost varies depends on snow amounts put still have to use hammer

Still 3-6 feet of snow on the ground but there isn't really any frost on that ground, uncovered ground there is 7-9 feet of frost and its still below freezing and more snow is on the way. Hopefully by May things will be melted and be able to get animals out on pasture and get some field work done.

If I remember right you are located in Sac county. Two clubs that I belong to are anticipating a "plow day" just north of Odebolt on Apr. 12th. As I understand it there is 160 acres of soybean stubble to turn over. If you make it, look me up and we'll get aquainted. I'm planning on taking my '48 JD A and a 2 bottom #44 plow. Dale

Here in SE Michigan, I've got 18" of snow on the ground in some places, pond is still frozen so I can walk on and a builder friend said it took the utility company all day to dig a trench for an electric line (about 45'). Backhoe would just chip away at the frozen ground which went down a good 3 feet. He said he's NEVER seen it so frozen in his years of building houses. Had 2 unheated houses under construction have their basement floors heave up. Never happened before.

Considering we're coming up on the end of March, I expect it will take all of April to thaw IF we start seeing temps above freezing which hasn't happened much yet.

9 below zero last morning and 6" of new snow. Alpena, Michigan. The power company was in the woods with a buzz saw on a crawler. I tried to walk out there and sank in 3 feet of snow and said the heck with it.

It is currently MUD season where I live. I would not dare to drive a wheel tractor or truck off the gravelled area, because I would almost certainly find someplace to get stuck. BTDT, and I sure have not enjoyed it.

This time next month and most areas of my property should be OK. I do know of one spot that must have a bit of a spring on it. I once got stuck real bad right there in JUNE.

The weather forecasters keep saying that we might get a little more snow around here, but I haven"t seen any for a while. But I believe that most of the frost is out of the ground now and I would be surprised if we have any more really cold weather this Spring. We always have to be prepared for nighttime frosts until the middle of June at this elevation, 2500 feet, and I have seen killing frosts way out into July.
