I own an older Webster Air Compressor and have to replace the electric motor. Unfortunately the "tag" on the motor is gone and I don't know what HP to buy. There is a Tag on the front of the compressor that says Manley Mfg. Div
American Chain Company
#12083B
On the side it says s/n 50135. The other side says Webster
London Canada

The motor needing replacement runs on 110v.
Any help is appreciated

About the biggest you can practically run on 120v is 1 hp. Maybe 1 1/2 but that will push the limits of a 20a breaker.

Might research the model and serial #s. Some compressors are sized by their HP.

A motor shop can usually tell you what it is and cost to replace vs repair. Or you can see if the motor has overload protection and size it from the OLs. If it's a NEMA motor get a chart and you might be able to figure it out.

I just ordered a 2 hp motor from surplus center for my Fairbanks morse compressor, and it is supposed to be 115-230 vt. It hasn';t got here yet, and I had to settle for a 3/4" shaft, when my old drive pulley is a 1" bore. 2 hp was the largest motor they had in stock, that would work with 115 vt.
