I bought this tractor at our local steam engine show at Berryville VA,It was locked up and completely wore out, some one installed a wide front from God knows what and it had rubber tires on it.I decided to make a front set of steel.Im hopeing to take it back to the show this year. Each year I try to buy a tractor, repair it and show it the following year.I dont think this tractor will ever see paint

"OH DEERE!"

The correct police are going to be screaming to high heaven if you take that to a show.
Don't let them bother you if they do.
Its your tractor and you can do as you please.
I admire your create ability.

Jimmy,

Your F12 looks beautiful rusty -- neat idea to fabricate those wheels to go with its wide front... it will be unique for certain!

At shows, I am ALWAY drawn to anything rusty or in its faded "work clothes" before I am to the perfectly painted machines.

Husband uses muriatic acid to rust-up any bolts, hairpins, etc. that he has had to replace on our old, rusty Farmall Regular. Would probably work on your new wheels too (if you want 'em rusty).

Looks nice Jimmy! I like your wheels. I'd like to see more pics of that front axle. I can't figure out how the spindles move - it looks like it's welded up solid.

Those wheels look great, with a little rust they will blend right in. I agree that at shows I find some of the rusted or original paint machines more interesting.
When is the show this year in Berryville?

Great fab job on the wheels.

Spray it with a light salt solution 5% or so. You should have the wheels aged in no time.

(quoted from post at 12:57:21 03/24/14) looking at the steering shaft is this a f12 or a f14? Bob

Since you have not gotten a reply, I will. IH made a field upgrade kit that would basically add all the F14 features to an F12. The raised steering, seat position, and longer brake levers were part of the upgrade. There are many F12's with the upgrade and at first glance look like 14's

Bob,Its a F12 with a farmers conversion,I think whoever did it must have been very short, becaues they even modified the clutch so they could reach it
