I try to put something on the seat that I have to move when I put the plate on the other truck but last time my son-in-law moved the plate for me. Went 8 days running around with no plate. I go thru town twice a day coming to the farm besides out of town at least twice. Never got stopped, discovered it myself.

Here in MO we get a sticker to put on our plates when we renew them. I come out of the license office and put it on right then. If I don't, the next time I would think about it is when the man in blue would remind me.

Cost me $15 back in 79. The plate was laying on my desk, which reminds me, the new sticker needs to go on 'whitey' the old 79 Dodge. Jim

Are you saying you use one license plate on multiple vehicles??

Well, I don't think that is legal. I mean, I would do the same thing, just saying it aint legal.

I have my farm trucks licensed as "historic vehicles" Lifetime plate, no inspection, etc. They just have to be over 25 years old, which they are.

My dad forgot to put the new sticker on the plate of his car.
Took it on a color tour up into Canada that year.
Went through at least four states on the trip.
Drove it all year, never heard a thing.
When he got the new one for the next year he discovered it.

He said he was going to take it back and ask if he could get a
refund since he didn't use it!

Gene, in ma. it is legal you just have to pay sales tax on vehicle's you are using and the state will give a compliance decal to put in back window. You can use plate on any vehicle that has decal. Also in ma. we have repair plates that are treated the same way we have two repair plates and ten trucks that we use them on.

Last year when I went to renew license I was looking for registration in glove box and found the sticker that should have been on the plate. So I went the whole year with it not being on the plate but it was with the truck.

Wish it was that way here. Here they issue "collector" plates for classics. Use to be a one time fee and you could drive the vehicle 2500 miles a year. Well people started complaining and the state realized the were loosing revenue. Last I checked you are only supposed to drive them 2 and from events, like shows or parades. Not sure but I was also told that farm plates on a one ton or larger requires a "farm" DOT inspection once every 2 years. Going to have to check on that. Fixing to buy a one tone cub van. Be good for picking up feed and seed and doubles as storage for it. If the difference in cost is enough I'll play the game but if not I'll just put regular plates on it.

Historical plates here limit you to driving it to and from events.
Can't even drive it in the spring to clear the cobwebs legally.

Farm plates are not as restrictive here though. They can be
used for "anything supporting a farming operation, including
transporting the farmer's family".

Without them, a one ton titled as a flat bed or stake rack requires
a commercial license plate. A one ton pickup does not.
I have no idea why they make the distinction between the box type.

Real trucks in Missouri get a new plate every year.LOL(18,000&up) Gene you are not legal if you put any commercial load on a Historic plated vehicle, including grain. I have family in the MOHP and we have talked about this.

One plate for several trucks is legal here in MA, has been since I got one in the 50s. What has changed is milage away from the farm. It started being only 10 miles, then 20, then 100, then adjoining states, now everywhere. It's trucks and farm equipment only, no station wagons even if it's full of fence posts fixing fence along the road.
