I have a jd 6420 that the decal was mostly peeled off the side. I picked the rest off and power washed it yesterday. I want to put a new decal on it but think I should prepare it better. There is still alot of stickyness on the hood and the part that was peeling has a discolored streak on it. What ca. I use to clean it enough to ensure the new decal will stick correctly. I already tried rubbing alcohol, and all purpose cleaner.

3M Adhesive remover #03618, available at most auto parts stores. Gets rid of the goo but doesn't harm paint.

I have used Go Gone and WD40. Have also heard that an orange can take it off. Don't know if it works. But that is what a guy that restores old cars told me. Supposed to remove the sticker or decal. But not hurt the paint.

i bought a van with a double blue strip almost all the way around it last year and the only thing i could get to cut it with any satisfaction was acetone it destroyed every kind of glove i used and even thought it works compared to all the other stuff that did not work at all, you have to be patient and non aggressive with it or else you get to spend just as much time with rubbing compound and wax on it to get the tiny smudge scratches out of it. enjoy life
