Bach-ing it

If I'm missing from here for too long, call 911 to make sure I haven't starved to death or slipped on the ice.
The wife got a call from the hospice nurse yesterday telling her that if she wanted to see her dad, she'd better head for Virginia. So she left for Kentucky this morning to pick up her sister then they're going over there. No idea how long she'll be gone. I hope the soup and frozen dinners don't run out around here.

You will survive.I did.Bached for about six weeks when Susan was in the hospital.Haveing them gone gives you a whole new appreaciation for them....Maybe a kind neighbor will bring you some meals.

You said that Suffolk is about 90 miles south of you.
Suffolk is about 90 miles south of me too.
We must not be too far apart.
Where are ya ?

Sorry to hear the bad news about your FIL. My wifes Dad passed away about a year and a half ago. Another WW II vet gone. Time to sharpen up your cookin skills, you won't starve to death I'm sure. I know that with the extra weight I've got, it would take a looong time.

Been thinking about hinting to him that I might could use a pizza or some KFC by the weekend. lol

Not my friend. I don't know what it is,but I can't eat something after I've smelled it cooking all day. Twenty minutes maybe, but not all day.

Prayers for your fil. Not trying to be at all smart alecky, but Bach-ing would be listening to the high brow music written by Bach.

What you say you will doing is "batching" it.

Hope I don't offend. Ron

Thought about that, but it's bachelor isn't it? Bach is pretty good music when you come down to it though. Beats the heck out of most of the things that are on TV. Got a hunch I'm gonna be watching a lot of that. The dog and cats ain't much for conversation.

Sorry to hear that Randy, I passed it on to Joan as well.
We'll keep you all in our thoughts.
Let us know if there's anything we can do.

Yea we neighbors.
I am over here in King & Queen Co.
We ought to get together one day and shoot the breeze.
We might already know each other, I don't recognize handle names . LOL...

(quoted from post at 15:55:58 03/18/14) Don't worry will send Royse over to cook . He's pretty good with a grill from what I hear.
Thanks for the vote of confidence Trucker, I do love my grill!
One of these days maybe we'll figure out where to do an antique
plow day or something similar so we can all enjoy the day.

It could be worse, You could be waiting on your father to die.
Let you wife know you will be fine and take all the time she needs.
My thoughts with you and yours.

Thanks. It's not unexpected though. He's 90. She got called down there 9 years ago because they said he was dying. This time around she waited for somebody in the medical profession to tell her instead of taking his wife's word for it. He was in pretty bad shape when they left here a few days after Christmas. He's been in the hospital and nursing home since the day after they got back home. Not to sound flip about it but he had a long life. There's such a thing as living too long. At least he hasn't had to lay there for a year with tubes in him. Kim even said herself that she wishes he'd have just gone quick from a heart attack like her mother did.

Ya,she's taking it pretty good though. When she said good bye to him just after Christmas she thought for sure it would be the last time she saw him. At least she had warning so she could get down there.

Saying a prayer for Kim and you. Hit the frozen food aisle in the supermarket--keep you from starving and doesn't take much work. Sometimes you don't even have any dirty dishes when you're done.

Will send you some peanuts and popcorn - Soon as I can find yer dern address!

PS: Sorry to here about your FIL.
Jim

Sorry to hear about your FIL. It sounds like he has had a good run.

As far as the cooking. I find out that I eat a lot more fried stuff when the Better half is not around. I don't like to take the time to fix stuff that take much time to prepare. Just had a fried egg sandwiches tonight.

Hey, rr! She'll be only 20-25 miles from me depending on where he's at. I worked at the IH truck dealership there on 460 for 11 1/2 years. Prayers going up, hope it doesn't hurt your SIL or wife too much, if they gotta wait a long time. Lost my parents in '91 and '00. FIL went in '07, MIL is good as gold, don't see her near often enough. You'll survive, hang in there!

thaw out one of your nice steaks ,and put it under the broiler for awhile, flip it over cook a little more,,,,easy and good! Baked potato in the micro wave is not great, but not bad either

Sorry to hear... You"ll be in our prayers.

If you really get desperate for a home cooked, You"re always welcome here.

Nice thing about Lent- always a Friday fish fry within a few miles.......best of luck to all the family.

A can opener can be a valuable tool! I notice that more and more canned goods are coming with pull top lids also. Dump it into a microwave container and you're good to go. With s little practice you won't have to live off sandwiches.
Seriously, though, I am sorry to hear about your FIL. Even though it is expected, sometimes it can be hard to cope with. My thoughts are with you and yours.

Sorry to hear about your father-in-law. Will keep you in our thoughts.

I second the crock pot idea. A big roast and potatoes, or chili. Lasts for days around my place.
