Close friend was having ,what he thought, indigestion and gas pain. Started around frist week of February. His wife finally made him go to the doctor. Doctor asked him some questions, gave him a stomach med. and a Nitro puffer. Told him to try the puffer when he felt he needed to burp, and could not, and made him an appointment to see a heart doc. later that day. Cardiologist gave him a short stress test, which he failed , and called a surgeon . He went to see the surgeon March the4th.It was determined that there where 4 arteries 70 percent to almost100 percent blocked. Booked him in for the big operation on March 11th. All went well he was back home on the 15th. Total charge "Zero dollars". Many things are mentioned on this site about Health care, and the Canadian Public Health care system ,with long waiting list. I don't think that one week, makes a very long wait. My friend is doing fine , wife and I went to see him this past Sunday.Lucky man ,65 years young , and a new lease on life! Bruce

Had it done 2 years ago. Changed my life, I have no symptoms now at all. No shrtness of breaeth, etc.
DO WHAT THE DR. AND NURSES TELL YOU, AFTER DISCHARGE. DO NOT NOT NOT NOT START LIFTING, PULLING, CHOPPING WOOD.

It cost more than zero, but the last one the wife had was Doctor, on Monday and bypass on Tuesday. I needed an MRI, I got it the same day it was ordered.

Yep. My wife had a quadruple ten years ago. She followed the surgeons orders to the letter.

That being said, I was inspecting an apartment building today when an elderly lady came walking down the sidewalk. It was written all over her face, "What was I doing?"

Got to talking with her and she said she'd spent most of the last month in the hospital. She said when she was discharged from the hospital, the doctor told her not to walk or drive a car.

She said, "If I don't use my legs, they quit working, and yesterday morning my car drove to church all by itself. And after church was over, the car drove home all by itself".

You gotta love these little old ladies. Actually, she kind of reminded me of my own late mother, both in stature and attitude.

53rd birthday on a Friday, stent installed on Saturday, meds for next month then robotic bypass. Having never had heartburn thought had finally grown into it for last 2 weeks of being 52. Found out I still have never no idea what heartburn feels like.

i have 11 stents compliments of the Canadian system done at a world calss faciility - Ottawa Hear Institute. i have a hard time imagining it any other way. Seems like as silly as each of us paying for the road in front of our house instead of pooling the cost. If you have a lot of rocks in front of your house - ie have health issues it will cost you a lot more. As I get older and head toward retirement I am more and more greatful for our system.
