Feral Hogs in NY

So - whiney boy Andrew Cuomo saves the day again in abundant-land NY. I wonder what we rural citizens are supposed to use for guns as time goes on? Pea shooters? I doubt Andrew has ever shot anything as powerful as a pea shooter but would like to ban them anyway. I was shocked to find out recently that most sling-shots in NY are considered "firearms." It was a pleasure to walk into Walmart in northern Michigan and buy a dozen of them with NO problems.

Sounds just like bunch of no nothing idiots. While you are making that call. The pig has moved on and had a litter.Down here it is shoot on site and we are loosing the war.

It is "know nothing","losing" and "sight".

The learned decision makers value us rural hicks even less when we comminicate with spelling mistakes.

He's the absolute worst piece of_____ that ever took the office of governor in this state.

Ok, so they claim if you shoot individuals,(swine not people LOL ! had best make that clear) it makes the problem worse, so what is the better way and what are citizens allowed to do. If this is good practice ok, but if you see them, you're chances of multiple kills are better with a semi auto and a decent size magazine, but wait, we can't have these, or theres a bunch of BS if you do want to keep one legal. Gee, in CT, if you registered via letter or whatever means after the deadline, they apparently are considering charging you with a class D felony, all of this because, of that bullied, then later vengeful punk who did what he did, we all pay for this now. That's misrepresentation and its also discrimination.

We have enough problems with deer and agricultural crops, gardens and all that, we don't need these to get a foothold, seems every one that is shot is at least one less. We had best hope they don't get established here, and not be due to some poorly drafted up rules on their mitigation.

The attached link is one of his latest accomplishments, free designer license plates and I think even drivers licenses, for 2014 lifetime hunting license buyers. I got one of the letters, but I've had lifetime privileges for 12 years or so. So they waste the time and money to send me a letter to tell me this, something that does not even apply to me, but fine, so its an incentive campaign and I've been informed about it. Ok, but no provision even mentioned for current lifetime license holders, I'm sure there is a cost to us, and that's fine, there should be for such glitz, taxpayers should not be paying for fancy plates, for what boasting rights LOL !! Ok, I support hunting and actually would consider having the plates, depending on what they cost. Seeing I invested into the license. I'm not into personalized plates and all these kinds of things but it is something I support, I'll have to look further into that. I do think we have other priorities and some mistakes by this government that need to be rectified, fancy license plates do not help that cause or any citizen that I can see, maybe I'm blind LOL !

Now there was also mention of "New Adventure License" thats a driver license that's incorporated with hunting and state park access, whereas they put symbols such as deer, maple leaf, broad head arrow tip, fish, one I can't understand, a paw print and or a boat anchor on your license, to simplify what you need to carry. Well they did give us a liftime license card, then sent another one out. Front of that card says lifetime license, back of the card says and I quote. "this is not your license" what kind of farce is this our government ? LOL ! Idiocy at taxpayer expense.

Us law abiding citizens need access to ammunition, like before, we don't need this registry for semi automatic rifles, now with only one military feature, and or any other crap regarding our firearms, he has ostracized a huge group of citizens, he needs to be voted out of office for what he's done. Sure he's proven he can get something done, but its all WRONG ! LOL !

Hint and Note to self: Move to Vermont

Whats ironic to me is that I've delved into politics here, something I just don't do, he's sure made it hard to restock ammo thats used around the farm for varmints, can't order it, can't buy it anywhere, none to be found on the shelf as of today. Sure glad I did trade for some before this all happened.
License Plates

We used to live in Cortland County NY and seen 1 them pigs while on horse back. Called cops but knowing them didn't do nothing about it.

They have to consider anything that can kill a person as a firearm with all the nut bags downstate. They should let NYC become its own state. They certainly have a large enough population.

JMHO

We have them 30-40 miles from here less then 10 from my brother not too many yet hope they don't get out of control.

You've been misinformed. It's not "most" slingshots, it's wrist brace types and they aren't classed as "firearms" at all. They are classed as a "weapon". They are illegal, but I've only seen one instance of an arrest for possessing one and that guy was using it very clearly as a weapon wit the intent of causing serious physical injury to his wifes boyfriend.

This is the definition of a "Firearm" per Article 265. of the NYS Penal Law- 3. "Firearm" means (a) any pistol or revolver; or (b) a shotgun having
one or more barrels less than eighteen inches in length; or (c) a rifle
having one or more barrels less than sixteen inches in length; or (d)
any weapon made from a shotgun or rifle whether by alteration,
modification, or otherwise if such weapon as altered, modified, or
otherwise has an overall length of less than twenty-six inches; or (e)
an assault weapon. For the purpose of this subdivision the length of the
barrel on a shotgun or rifle shall be determined by measuring the
distance between the muzzle and the face of the bolt, breech, or
breechlock when closed and when the shotgun or rifle is cocked; the
overall length of a weapon made from a shotgun or rifle is the distance
between the extreme ends of the weapon measured along a line parallel to
the center line of the bore. Firearm does not include an antique
firearm.

A "Firearm" in NYS is not your deer rifle or duck shotgun. It's a pistol, revolver or rifle/shotgun meeting the above guidelines. IOW- it's basically a Class 3 weapon and requires a permit to own. All the NYSP shotguns carried in the Troop cars are "firearms" and required special licensing of the Division of State Police from the BATFE to be bought and possessed.

I won't argue, at all, that many of our states laws are plain stupid and that the hysterical SAFE Act needs to be completely overturned and that our Pistol Permit requirements needs to at least be "Shall Issue", but your post gives incorrect information.

Everything I"ve read on feral hogs says the boars are solitary until breeding time. Only the females and young form herds or sounders.

At least they are trying to be pro-active and stop the problem before it gets out of hand.

I would be willing to be they have far more hogs than they think they do.

Unless you start a complete eradication program NOW, they will be out of control before you know it.

Sows normally have two (sometimes 3) litters of 6 to 8 a year depending on climate. They have no natural predators. Hunting is NOT an effective means of control.

As Billy NY states our gov. has ostrasized a huge group of voters. However this IS abundant NY and there is an even"huger" block of voters who can't get enough of him!

The NY Gov. has made it clear that pro gun/hunting folks are not welcome in the state of NY. This looks like another step in shedding the state of what he considers swine.
