Letz A Burr Mill

Hi all, I was just given a Burr Mill for grind stuff. It is a Letz Model A. I am in need of the bottom cover for the hopper? A guy gave this to me because he couldn't find one, and when he got the mill, it was missing, so either I have to find one, or make one.... I can get a picture if anyone out there has one! I am in desperate need. Let me know what you got! Thanks, Bryce

P.S. I would also like to find any type of literature for this contraption.

Show us a picture, there are options for making one, but I need to see the approximate configuration before suggesting solutions. Jim

Sure, I am heading to the sack right now, but I will get one up first thing in the morning! I have the option to cast my own, but I would have to convince the guy into that does it to "help me out"! Bryce

I have a numbered model Letz out in the shop. It's been sitting there for many, many years. Always wondered what it would take to get it going. Not sure what I would do with if I did get it going.

I have a scan of a manual, not sure how much it would help you though.

Would it be possible for you to e-mail it to me? If you could do that, I would print it out and have a "shop copy"!
A really smart old guy I know, told me that this machine was Pre-JD, and that after JD got involved with them, that all of the model numbers changed from A B C D Etc, to 10 20 30 40 50 60.... Sooo, if yours looks about like mine, they are probably the same machine! Here is a picture of one on the internet! Bryce
The first picture is of a Letz Model A, the second is of a Letz/JD Model 80, look the same to me!

It looks to be a simple "U" shaped bottom is needed. Finding a scrap piece of large diameter pipe or tubing with the correct (or close) radius and fabricating from that would be easiest. Jim

No problem, give me your address and I'll send it along.

Mine looks more like the 80. I can't remember the exact model, I would have to go out and check.

Dad and I were out messing around in the shop, and he got to looking at the grinder, he cleaned the plate up a little bit, and it says MODEL 80 TYPE A, I thought that it had said model A, I was wrong, so I guess that they are the same?? Bryce
