Kubota B8200 Opinions

I was wondering what type of tractor a Kubota B8200 was?
What do you think of it?
Could I pull a one bottom plow behind it.
Is it better than an 8n or 9n??

If it's 4wd AND has R1 ag tires (as opposed to R4 construction or turf tires) it might pull a one bottom in some soils. Pretty sure that's a hydro transmission tractor so that enters into the equation.

It's the same horsepower as my JD 750. I have no problem moving snow with mine. The hydro would be a big advantage for running a blower.

I look at the ford N series tractors are flat
heads, about 20 hp. No live hydraulics and no live
pto. So I remember, if you want to use 3 pt, you
have to put it in neutral, turn on the pto to make
the 3 pt work. Or when driving, the pto must be on
before the 3 pt will work. Also the pto is
connected to the rear wheels. So using a brush hog,
you need a special gismo to remove the pto or a
rotating brush hog will keep you moving.

A neighbor bought a used one some 20 years ago with
a belly mower on it to mow grass. It's still going
strong. Tough little tractor, and a surprising
amount of power for that itty bitty engine on
it....

I have a Kubota B1750 HST bought new in 1993. My 1750 is similar to the 8200, albeit a few years newer.

In the 20+ years that I have owned the 1750 it has needed absolutely NOTHING aside from lube oil and filters. NOTHING, not so much as a fuse, lamp or fan belt. It has, without doubt, been the most satisfying major purchase of my life.

That said, it is a CUT, not a farm tractor. It is NOT designed for plowing and there is no possible way that it will pull a 14" plow in ANYTHING with turf tires.

It might pull a single 12" plow with ag tires, properly ballasted and in IDEAL conditions. Even if it did, the hydro transmission is a convenience device not intended for tillage work and not well suited for such.

It will plow snow with a back or front blade but chains will be required if there is much snow and/or slopes.

I also have a stable full of vintage Fords, including 51 and 52 8Ns. The Ns will work circles around the Kubota. There is simply NO comparison for anything aside from mowing the lawn with a MMM and plowing snow, where the Kubota is better if (and only if) equipped with F and R chains.

Buy the Kubota if you want a very good and long lasting lawn tractor. Buy something larger if you want to plow and/or disc.

I had a B8200 for about fifteen years. I mowed, raked and baled hay with it. I cleared my driveways in NH with it, and I plowed with a 2x12 plow then disced with a five foot single gang bog harrow, on two separate parcels, each of about an acre. I traded it on a 2001 3010 and they allowed me $10,000 on it. Soon after I got a 43 HP David Brown so that I wouldn't have to work the 3010 as hard as I did the 8200. The 8200 had the hydrostat and I never had to repair anything on it.

Why does everyone want to plow when they ask about a
small tractor ? I'd think they are wanting to do gardens and
such small areas. Think 3pt hitch roto tiller! You can get it
done pretty fast and in one pass. If hydro all the better.
