Classic tractors as my hobby

Before I found tractors I was in to restreing old automobiles. I was very good at in doing because I could even do my own uplostery. AS I feel into tractor restoration work for some older farmers that wanted there old tractors redone I was soon hooked on the hobbie.Tractors are differnt than Cars. I am a member of two tractor clubs and are still learning. you want to make money on this will it is simple find rare tractors. Such as Farmall 14 they only ran for two years. John Deere 1956 70 Diesel only ran for two years. IH and Farmall had what they called a demostrator line just for the delarship to show and then take orders but what would happen is that those to got sold off. These are tractors that will sell for money. Here is one more JOhn Deere Model A old unstyle around the 1930 to 1940 they are in to demand. Avery, Earth master,Samson, G.M.C, and many more hard to find tractor of these makeres.JUst think Americas population of 83% back in those years farmed tractors where a big hit to those who could afford them. Hey any body could do a car these days ( I say that at a car show all the time) My best friend laughs when I say it.

FYI; Nothing rare about JD70 diesel unless you find one not worn completely out. May of only been 2 years but they made a lot of them compared to other models. Farmers could pay one off in short order on the fuel savings alone.

As a hobby or for actual use, it is a fine thing to do. Unless you have a dramatic source for the "rare" tractor, there is no money in it. Fun yes money no. Jim

Such a deal as I got for you, Bernie!

I have a "rare" 1938 F-14 with several of the desirable options (fenders, road gear, electric start) that I'll be happy to sell you so you can make a bundle on it.

Good luck with that, I can't seem to [i:654c4848f0]give[/i:654c4848f0] the damn thing away.

That is why I go for the US Bs. My US BWH is the lowest production and my 330U is next with a high altitude motor.

I have a book on John Deere that states the model 70 was introduced in 1953 and was superseded by the 720 in 1957. That would give the model 70 a four year run.

OK, Brent, I re-read your original post and see that you are referring to the 70 Diesel. Still my book says that the new diesel was introduced in 1954, but I know that in many instances a tractor was manufactured one year, and if not sold that year, it would be sold as the next years model. Many farmers didn't really care what year it was made if it was new and they needed it.

I am sorry but the facts that was said is True. The John Deere 70 diesel first came out in 1954 an ran to 1956. What is most interesting is that I bought as my secound tractor to my current collection. I really did not know what I had bought and till I got to tractor shows. Like always I learned from those at the shows when i asked them about what i had. It is schocking to find out that this tractor is a popular collection peace. I really do not understand why. Is it because it has a pony engine to start? Is it because it holds a record in fuel economy? As I learn on tractors it becomes interesting to me what makes a tractor important for a tractor collector. I do not plan to make money all I plan to do is enjoy the hobbie.
