What is my old Model A worth?

I am cleaning up my family land and there is an old "Model A" sitting there that has not moved for over 30 years. All the parts are there, and my grandad called it a "popp'n Johnny"...

I have people asking me to sell it, but i don't know what its worth, and they won't make an offer until i do... (of course).

What you are showing is a tractor that Deere never made as it is an LP model and Deere never made one so that is aftermarket so it would be about as scarce as hens teeth but would make a rare piece for shows running or not and with that LP setup may be hard to get running. Make sure whoever buys it that they realize hoe special it is to a collector as it is.

It is worth scrap price. I am in central Illinois hauled two of these from Texas because they are different. I very much enjoyed working on them both. As with any common A the restoration cost far exceeds the value. I got both running, painted, good tires and finally sold both for less than the same factory correct gas version in the same shape.

That's a very nice straight original looking propane tractor. It looks very complete, however the tires are junk and will hurt the price considerably. Sorry to say that unless it is somehow a "rare" tractor it will probably go for little more than scrap price IMHO. That being said PLEASE do not scrap it since it is in good condition otherwise. Hopefully someone else who is more familiar with John Deere tractors can tell us more.

David, Is the motor Stuck or Loose this one point could be the major decision to what it is worth. I will bet it is stuck tight! (no can over the Exhaust)
Next the rubber is shot,,,Tires are round,black and hold air....barely!
A JD will weigh about low 4000 lbs to 5200 lbs. So say 5K for a reference point... X... scrap $$price = ave $500 + - a few dollars.
+++It has a single Cotton front tire a +++
The Aftermarket LP system is neat and looks very will done not a hack job. In the right hands,,A JD, LP Nut... Might bring a little more but Don't count on it.
IMO the value on your A is $500 to $650 tops
Hope this helps.
Later,
John A.

Do I see a single front wheel and long rear axles? Could be a little on the scarce side if my eyes are right. My dad's first tractor was a 47 A with single front, long axles and 42 inch rear wheels. I don't know if it qualified to be called an ANH or not. Jim

Thats a pretty neat tractor and it'd scrap for $500 so I'd say at least $1000+ with the straight tin,the LP set up and single front wheel thats probably worth $500 alone.Start high and you can always come down on the price.
