I know this is a forum for tractors, but you guys have a wealth of information and have been so helpfull in the past. So here goes. I have an elderly Ford F-800 single axle truck. I do not have the correct title, and need a starting platform to get one. I need to know the year of manufacture. The Vin.is F809U614427. Approx. year is !965 but need to know for sure. Thanks much.

Here ya are:
F = conventional gas
80 = 800 series heavy duty
9 = engine 391 gas 4bbl 199 cert net hp
U = assy plant Louisville
614427 = consecutive unit prod number which is in the group of numbers for year 1965. The numbers used in 65 start at 580,001 and go thru 731,999. This data is from a "Shop Tips" pamphlet from Ford dated Oct 1969. Your Id tag should be on the drivers door. If it is the original, then that is the real number. It should be stamped in the frame in 2 places if there is doubt. George

I found about half the info that George did before I fell asleep I got the year, model, and assembly plant but that engine number had me in fits. I did ascertain that it was likely an FT engine but couldn't figure out whether it was a 361 or 391. Glad someone else could help ya!
