Spectra Water Furnace Solenoid valve problem

After the furnace shuts down, water is still moving thru the system. Which means that the well pump and pressure tank are moving water 24/7. The solenoid valve is in the line exiting the furnace. I googled the valve, and it said that it could also be a control panel problem. If I turn off the electrical power and the water to the furnace, would I be asking for trouble by removing the screws that hold the valve together, so that I can see if it is dirty and needs cleaning?
Of course this had to happen on the weekend, but at least it is still giving us heat.
Thank you

Might want to watch it for a few minutes, it may be in a cool down cycle, will shut off when the temp inside the furnace drops.

If it continues to run, unplug the power to the solenoid coil. If the flow continues, the valve is the problem.

Depending on where the valve is located, removing the screws will let whatever water is upstream in the line flow out. Can you get a catch pan under it? It could have trash in the pilot (the spring loaded plunger in the stem) or the seat may be corroded.

I have listened to the water flow thru the furnace quite a while after it has shut down, so I doubt that it is still in a cool down cycle.

I might try to take the valve apart tomorrow. Thank you for the advice.
