Speaking of Kubota's

The green ones are for show and the orange one is for go.
My wife bought the orange one for me for Valentines Day. Black and orange are the school colors where she teaches.

Just my luck. Wife's school colors are blue and white. If she buys me a Rhino tractor, we're through.

Wow, she's a keeper for sure. Our school colors,we're purple and white. Wonder what she could buy me? Jim

Well anybody else want one Might just know the guy for a deal..LOL Folks are kind of devided on those industrial tires. Some folks that get them swear by them then the next one won,t. I usually tell them last longer, cut up the turf less but not for the true farmer. Won,t hold as good in red mud. About 90% of the under 50 hp we sell gets that tire but over 50 hp is is quite less.

R4 tires are intended for semi industrial applications. They are long wearing, more puncture resistant and less damaging to turf but will not pull the hat off of your head.

I try and explain that to most folks. With the 4 wheel drive they meet most folks needs but as you say are limited in traction. This past week we had a bad ice storm and on packed ice as you say they can take you for a ride on a slick hill.

I bought the li'l lady a miniature Kubota, BX series.

She absolutely will get outta the living room to go blow snow with that rascal!

I have not regretted purchasing a bit too expensive (at first) rather than too cheap. I like the BX. It has hydro drive, two speed hi/low, 2 or 4 wheel drive, and diff lock.

Amazing little diesel. Hungry if worked, but enjoyable in accomplishments.

My 5740 with 2400 hrs still has the factory rears, I love that tread for our landscaping work. Been a great, great tractor for me. It still looks great and I think it's still worth something. I needed something that frame size and not bigger. Is there a new one now that size with more hp?

You have the biggest L series but you could jump to a M series and get more hp in just about the same frame size but would be a heavier tractor.

They have equal traction in both direction and farm tires don't which is fine for plowing but not loader and hoe work.

The industrial tires are a great compromise! As you stated, easy on the turf, (My yard is NOT a putting green anyway,) and give decent traction in the garden. My daughter had a BX2300 and I used it a lot. Amazing at the work it would do!

The L5740 has been replaced by the Tier IV L6060.

The 6060 is rated 3 HP higher at the PTO at the same RPM but is considerably more expensive due to the Tier IV nonsense. Other differences are inconsequential.

Tom in Mo.:

If that's what your wife bought you for JUST
Valentines Day, I want to see what she gets you for
your Anniversary, Birthday, & Christmas.

LOL !

Those tires can get you spinning on wet grass. Horrible design. They go sideways as much as forward or backwards on anything but concrete or black top. Just my opinion but, I hate em.

I didn't realize people could be so picky. A while ago a guy tries to give away a free tractor and is bombarded by questions on it's condition. It's FREE! If it was worth much it wouldn't be free. Pick it up and take it to the scrap yard and make some money. This guys wife buys him a tractor and all people want to do is complain about the tires. It wouldn't be my choice for tires but I'd run them till they're worn down and replace them with what I wanted. If they bother that much take them off and sell them and use the money to buy others.

K-4010 - That's just what I plan on doing. Use the tires until they are no longer any good. I don't do alot of tillage work; utility, haying and food plot.
Also of note, this is a used tractor, 2008 M6040 with only 49 hours on it. 6 years old and 49 hours! and no emissions junk.
So they are out there if one is patient and ready to buy.

Thanks, guess I'll be on the lookout for a lower houred 5740 to replace this one sometime. A battery and front axle knuckle seals in 2500+ hours isn't bad. Great machine.
