Tonights feature is by B maniac,,,,he asks,,,,,,do you remember your first date in a car/truck,,,,and what kind of a car/truck ? ,,,,,he also wants to know what is the fastest car you have ever owned?

First date was in a 67 firebird that I got as my first car. And yes it worked. LOL It had an overhead cam 6 cylinder motor and a 2spd automatic in it. It had keystone mag wheels. It was the best lookin car in the school. lol It was also the fastest for top speed. Didn't have the power to hardly spin the tires on ice from a start, but it would go for ever on top end. I never had the nerve to top it out, but had it over 120 mph many times.

I guess I might be first. And probably the most boring. The date, in the back of a '68 Coupe De Ville convertible, (That's all I'll say about that one). The car, a 2001 Hyundai Genesis Coupe. Not fast, but quick.

First date was in my first car, a 1959 Ford. Had to wax it at least once a week or would look really faded. Fastest was a 375 horse Chevelle. Got it when I got out of the army and drove it for about 3 years.

1st date was in a 67 Mustang Fast back.
Went to a Drive In & can"t member the name
of the Movie?? ( SORRY ) LOL

Fastest car was 1970 Mach 1 351C .. had a
140MPH Speedo in it & if the road was straight
you could put it past 140MPH...

I must Been Crazy?

my first real date was in a old dodge pickup, the fastest car i owned was a 1968 z-28 camaro with a machine shop engine, won some money with it on the road but it got to where the cops wouldnt leave me alone, so i sold it

First date was in a 61 VW beetle. Fastest car is kindly a toss-up. Owned two 69 plymouth roadrunners. 0 to 70, hang on, but also owned a Datsun 260Z,Speed-o registered 160 if you had the Ba--s to push the petal to the metal.Never got it over 135 myself.

Well my wife would be proud, I had to sit here for a good ten minutes to think of even who my first date was with!!...not sure what vehicle I drove, more than likely my parents or maybe my uncles Ford exploder....as far as owning a fast car, I never really had one unless my 98 Buick Park Ave. counts, she was one hell of a good work car got great mileage and rode like a dream!!

My first real date was in my 57 1/2 ton ford. I still have my fasted car a 2003 mustang SVT Cobra.

Here is a laugh for all of you I have had some fast vehicles But being a family man I couldn't resist putting the wifes 2003 Ford Windstar through the paces And was I surprised when it pinned you to the seat and buried the 120mph speedo in about a half of a mile. evidently the stall out doesn't work on this vehicle.

Same car, 1965 Ford convertable 352 three on the tree. Very hot, the girl that is.
After the 65 I went into the Army and there after, less powerful cars.
Pretty dull after that. Now I play with 4 cylinder Fords. joe

In 1960, I had a 1950 Dodge that was pretty rough. My mother had a 1959 Dodge that was in excellent condition.

I took my wife to our school's Valentine's Day dance that year and my mother let me use her car. It must have worked. I married that girl in 1962 and we've now been married for almost 52 years.

My fastest car was a 1962 Impala Super Sport 409 that I bought in 1965. 5 or 6 miles per gallon of gas, but it got me between gas stations pretty quickly.

Tom in TN

The speedo went to 140 in the firebird too. Don't know if I ever got it that high because I was too busy holding on at that speed to look. lol. I know I was dumb at that age, no way I would do that now.

My first date car was a '67 Galaxie 500 2 door hard top. Had replaced the 289 with a 302 HO. to heavy for real fast and topped out around 118. If I wanted speed when young it had to come from a Yamaha 350 with lots of extras. Now the Gold Wing will slide right by that 120 mark and I am to old to hold on especially since I don't have any fingers on my left hand to hold with

First date was in the first Pontiac Firebird I owned in high school, a 67 convertible with an overhead cam six cylinder. The fastest was a 69 Firebird with a 455 I owned as a senior.

First date in a 1952 Chevy.

Fastest car the Chevy SSR

001-vi.jpg

Although the 1972 Pontiac would scoot right down the road.

I really can't remember first date, but fastest car was my beefed up 1969 Nova SS. Had a unique metal-flake paint job that was very memorable, especially for the cops.

Larry,

I had a visit from the county deputy after my first date...

I did nothing wrong, but was in a car that was similar to one the officers were looking for.

Still a great story, but innocent in all manners.

D.

First date 1966 Fairlane GT 390 Bought it when I was 15. Fastest was the 67 427 Corvette I bought when I was 20. It had been hit in the front drove all the way to Georgia to get it from one of my relatives. Put it back together with help of some friends and kept it about a year. It would out run Western Union but wouldn't pass two gas stations in a row. Sold it about the time the insurance was due on it again. Would be worth about 10 times today than what it sold for in 81

Yes, first date.......she was tall, good looking, brunette........oh, you said what car was my first date in. Can't remember, but remember the girl.

Seriously, first car on my first date was Dad's 1949 OLDS 98 4 DOOR. Not a car that would impress a girl on first date.

First date yellow lemon 52 buick my old man owned. Fastest car I ever owned 1968 road runner with a hemi. Had 150 on speedometer and it would run it.

First date Granddads 70 Falcon. Fastest 69 Nova SS with a very bad 350 I built Myself, 4 speed, 3.31 posi. How fast it would go I don't know I didn't trust the tires that much. Dad and I were going to Sunday School one Sunday morning and I raced a Trans Am from a stop light when I got it in 4th gear and let off I was curious as to what He was going to say. He had been watching the Trans Am fall back. He turned to Me and said "Huh wonder what He thought He was going to do?"
Ron

First date in a car would have been a 1962 Plymouth Valiant phone company green at that. Fastest car I own would have been my 1967 Alfa Romero which was not a car that was normally imported but a car that was brought into the U.S. By a military guy so was made to be driven on the Autobon (sp) like in Germany. Speedometer read 2000 and at 150 was only spinning at 3500RPM

First date had to be Dad's '53 Chevy 4 door. All I had at the time was a '52 Norton ES2 motorcycle, not good for dates. Fastest car was a '66 Chevelle, 327-325hp. Don't know how fast it would go, I quit at 125mph.

My first new car was a 1969 Dodge Super Bee 383 four speed,
Car was a two door post, Red with bucket seats.
Speedometer went up to 150 mph.
I don't have that car but I have one like it that is better.
I found a complete car back in 1987 that only had 45000 miles on it. My son and I went through the body and engine fourteen years ago. My son did all the body work and did a great job. He painted it viper red. Some day the car will be his.
Brian

First date Ford f250 with 44" tires on it . Went to pick her up and two handfuls of her rear end to help her in . She was only 4""7" after her dad saw that he said take his truck with full tank. Car 69 mach 1 with a 289 with dual quads set on kill. 10.80s in the quarter . Just what a 17yr kid needs!

First date 52 MGTD I bought when I turned 16, never had a fast car but my son and I built a 65 Mustang that I was flat sceered of. My wife had an old 77 Chev. that would cruise at 115 or so for hours going from army bases to home etc.

Yeah Larry I remember! nod, nod, wink, wink! How could I forget and the fact it was in our farm's 88inch Landrover made it all the more memorable.....Wonder if she can still do all those positions?????
Fastest car? The only time I ever drove a fast car was when it was in neutral down a very steep hill!....but we do have some very steep hills!
Sam

My first date was in my fastest car. 1970 GTO Judge. I had it going 130 mph by myself. Friend had it going 135. Can't remember what the fastest reading on the speedometer was. Maybe 140 or 150. Don't remember. Sure remember the first date though. She was a cutie then, and still is, 37 years later.......unfortunately she is somebody's else's wife!!

First date was a drive in movie in my 57 chevy 2 dr HT I bought for 425.00 in 1966--her dad sent her little brother along with us -----My fast car I built 30 years ago 63 SS 409 425 HP --4 speed- dual quad--pos-I-traction--409 Still have it

For the first date thing. I bought a 63 Chevy Impala 2 door hard top with no motor. I put a 283 in it and had it going by the time I got my drivers license. I took a gal to the drive in a few nights later. Can't honestly remember for the life of me what the movie was since the girl was faster and better looking than the car.

As for the fastest,a 65 Ford LTD with a 390.

First driving date was a '72 Plymouth Fury Wagon...not real sporty lookin but the 360 moved it around well enough, and MAN O MAN if ya folded both rear seats down...well suffice it to say there was plenty of room! LOL
Fastest? '72 Buick Riveria with 455 was fast, '95 Ford Taurus SHO was way fast, my '01 Dakota with tuned 4.7 is plenty fast, but hands down the fastest I have ever owned is the War Deptartment's '14 Grand Cherokee...only 5.7 but that Hemi rocks! Brother is svc mgr at the dealership, we had them tune it! WOW Can't beat technology!

First one, 1975 Dart Sport with a worn out leaning tower of power.

Fastest is a tie between a 1983 Ranger with a tweaked 302/auto swapped in for the 4 cly/4 sp. and my 1994 Cummins that is putting out about 1,000 lb/ft at the crank.

My quickest ride, by far, was a 1988 Honda CR250 motocross bike!
a147907.jpg

First date and fastest car was one and the same. The car was a '71 Plymouth Duster, 360, 4 speed with a Hurst shifter. She would scoot, and so would the car.

First date 79 Powerwagon, and fastest srt10 dodge truck, but I think my Suzuki rm250 would take it from 0-80, my snowmobile is also pretty fast

First date was in that '65 Ford Custom (in photo with the '68 3/4 t Ford Pick-up)(me on the left) Would have been 1966-7 when I got my liscense. No radio,3spd on tree , 6 cyl...real chick magnet. Guess she must have really just liked me. Neighbor farm gal just down the road. She was 15 and I was 16. Memories!! Fastest car you guys already know, the '66 Tri-power GTO in the feature nite about building engines.
a147913.jpg

Forgot the bikes: one of several '85 Honda V65 Magnas I have owned, one very quiet graveyard shift I hopped on it an had my partner sit on a mile long straight stretch of Rte 17 in Owego, NY he clocked me at 154mph...the next one I got was sent to a V4 specialist in NC, it came back with a custom built Supercharger on it and it was down right scarey, but never clocked it or topped it out...ya just couldn't keep the front end down.
But I did use 'em for occasional dates...was this one girl in Owego had a real thing for speed...LOL

Fastest car was a 1962 Ford Galaxie 500 4 speed 4:11 rear end 406 CI 405 HP tri power that broke a rod just cruising along. Bought a brand new 427 cu in medium riser short block and the car was much faster! Used to love to come up to GTOs and 442s and blow their doors off on Woodward ave and Telegraph. . The Ford was black and did not look fast at all. It required new plugs, points and a hot valve adjustment every 1500 miles. First date was in a 1953 Chevrolet dark green pickup.

1950 buick my brother refused which dad bought for him to come home from college. I only used it for 2 months till dad relented and we sold at stilesville auction,Hey John T did you happen to see the darn thing about 1962? Fast car My 1968 rag top vette. My one son has done a frame off total restoration .It"s now better than new!

First was a 77 chevy short bed 4x4 with a 355 in it, had it two weeks and buried it in a swamp and blew transfer case out. Dad was not happy. Fastest was my 70 chevelle 468 merlin heads high rise intake and barry grant carb, tubbed caged with a built th400 behind it... Sold this one in college because it was sitting in the garage. Had a pretty sweet 71 chevelle ss clone in high school that I sold to buy a pulling tractor and put money in the other chevelle. Both were bought off of flipping tactors while in high school. Early 2000's. Wish I had both and a few of the tractors.

I have never owned a fast car: I guess I'm just too practical. First car was a '64 Chevelle my big brother got for $100 & sold it to me. It had no drive train, but I took care of that with a nice little v-8 out of a wrecked '68 Impala.

After owning the Chevelle for about a year I sold it for $400, (wish I still had it).

Soon after selling the Chevelle sweet '68 Camaro coupe came up for sale for $450. It was a factory stock 327. I snatched it up, did a bit of detailing to it & put it in storage. I vowed I would never sell the car & 35+ years later it's still in my heated shop.

I don't sell stuff. If I wanted to get rid of something I wouldn't have bought it in the first place.

Wish I new how to post pictures.

I was the same way jon, my brother in law was
telling me how fast we were going. All this
Just so the pizza we bought wouldn't get cold?
AT 140 I had pedel left but with Polyglass
F78X14 Goodyear wide track tires I had no nerve
left. We slowed back down, coasted for what
seems like a mile & 2 deer stepped out in the
highway I had to brake hard to miss them. If
they would have decided to cross a mile or so
back up the highway, I wouldn't be here typing
this?? Later I put Goodyear Radial tires on &
What a improvement to the ride/drive & handle.
Owned for 1972 till 1988, was like cutting my
right off seeing it go down the road without
me. But I wanted a 4WD TRK !!!!! Still miss
my 1970 Candy Apple Red Mach 1.....

First car- 1963 Mercury Meteor hardtop with a 260 v8 and 2 speed automatic. Nice car until someone pulled out in front of me. Rolled at least 2-1/2 times.

Fastest could be a toss up. I had a 1969 Dodge Dart Swinger 340 4 speed set up for NHRA stock class. Never took it to the track, just back and forth to work. Second choice would be the 1966 Fairlane I have now. 302, C4, set up for street or strip. Again, have not had it on the strip yet. Plan is to replace the 302 with a 427 I have in a crate. Ported medium riser heads, Tunnel Wedge intake, 2 650 Holleys. A friend had a factory 1966 Fairlane 427 I got to ride a couple of times. I would like to duplicate that car with mine.

First date was in a VW beetle. I've never been one for fast cars, just quirky ones. I dated a redhead for a couple of years and drove a red VW bus. She called it Fester as it looked like a festering sore you might find on your rear end. That thing would cruise all day long at 65 but it took a mile just to get it up to 50. There was room for LOTS of friends and a cooler - that was what was important.

Come to think of it, I did have some nice dates at the drive-in in the back of a pickup. Throw as many old pillows and blankets in the back as you can find and get ready for the show. Ha!

I had a 1967 Plymouth sport fury 383. Not the original motor. I bought it for $50. I think it was 1990. That car was bad azz. I had a cat skull for a hood ornament. The car was five different colors. Oh yeah about the date....not quite sure what she wore, but she was the president of the FFA. We're still married but I haven't seen her in 15 years!

First date car. 69 Mach 1 royal maroon with a flat black hood with shaker hood scoop.Sold it.

To buy the fastest car. 70 Chevelle SS 454. Deep fathom blue with white stripes.Still own it.

First date would be a 70 chevy pickup . Shoehorned a 283 into a chevy vega , that was fast !!

Yeah Bill, but I bet there was lots of room. I still have my Dad's 41 Buick. We call it the Mayflower 'cause everyone came in it!

First date was in a 51 merc. Fastest car was a Ford Pantera. 160 on the speedo and chickened out at 145. Had plenty left but the old 2 lane hiways weren't very good back then.

First date ,,,in uncles 69 merc Murader with 429. listened to Grass Roots 8 track and fogged up the windows . Fastest car ? My 71 Road runner , I built a wicked 383 for it , topped it off with 6 pack manifold and carbs . 4 speed , 410 dana rearend. I miss that car .

You need to explain that 15 year thing.I did have good friend who was separated and said thing was his live in couldn't pester him to marry as he was already married.

I had a 409 I stuffed into a little 17.5' low deck boat. Sure had a ton of fun with it. It was pretty healthy and surprised allot of people. That big ole heavy motor would get up and go.

Greg F.

First car, 1987 Buick Regal 2 door. First date became 4 years of dating and 12 years of marriage. I guess the date must have been good?!

first was 1974 ford 1/2 ton ranger xlt, 390 auto.
and had a 1964 ford galaxie500 xl 390,4v, 4 speed standard, buckets consol .
never had a car since then till this one .
2010 challenger have 3200 km. now. never saw rain or snow. still as showroom condition.
a147945.jpg

First date was in a '49 Hudson Hornet, black with a red interior...I was 16 and bought the car from a neighbor for $25.00. That was in 1956! Fastest was my (bouight new) 1960 Chevy convertible...red with a white top and 283 with 3 on the tree. Needed to carry a stick to beat the girls away!

My first date I believe was in a '73 Plymouth Fury 3. What a gutless boat. Bought it from my uncle for $300. Fastest car I had was my '75 Chevy Monte Carlo with a 400 with 4bbl carb. Man that Monte Carlo could burn the tires off in one night very quickly. LOL

I guess you could call this my first date, and a blind date at that. The year was 1956, I was seventeen, driving a '41 Ford pickup, stopped by my uncles one Sunday afternoon. His wife's brother was there with his family which included his reasonably attractive 16 year old daughter. My uncle pulled me aside and said the young lady was kinda bored, "Take this $10.00 and my car and show her what our town looks like." We got up with some other kids I knew and had a nice evening. His personal car, (not the family sedan) was a pristine 1948 Plymouth coupe, and he didn't let just anybody drive it either! I think I was more concerned about his car than the young lady! Saw her a couple more times the next week and they went back to whatever state they lived in. Never saw her again.
The fastest vehicle I owned was a red 1964 Impala 2dr. hdtp. 250hp. 327/3spd. I had it going past 110one day and had to back off because I ran out of straight road. There was only one road in the area that had enough straight that I could have wound it out, but everyone else knew it as well as the SHP, so I didn't try that. I put almost 95000 miles on that car in three and a half years and never did know just how fast it would run.

First date was in a '67 Mustang coupe, 289/auto. Still have it.
Fastest car is my '00 Mustang. Computer limited to 120 m.p.h. (because that's what the stock tires were rated for)

First date was in a 59 ford pickup my parents gave me as a first car. I was only about 6 months older than the truck.
While I owned a Z28 the fastest car I ever owned was a 34 ford 5 window. Had a 350 4 bolt vet motor and a 4 speed trans. Way to much power for such a light car.
Dumbest day in my life was the day I sold that car.

First date in this 1958 Ford Custom 300. Dad bought it new when I was born....traded it off 3 times, but always bought it back. It is still sitting out in the trees in South Dakota...was getting 50 miles to the quart when I quit driving it. Fastest would have been the 1984 Dodge Daytona Turbo Z...shoulda kept that car!

First date? 1976 Buick Regal.
Fastest car? Hmm, I have had a lot of cars. My model A is fast but can"t put the power down on the road. 666hp about 950hp on the nitrous. Have posted that on here a lot.

Fast: 2014 Corvette, I think top speed is around 194mph. 7 spd manual, black. You have to leave the traction control on in 1st gear, otherwise its like driving on ice. Fast, scary fast. This was only a short term ride.
a147969.jpg

I do not remember the first date I had in a car that I drove.
I do remember my mom driving me and my girlfriend on a "date".

The fastest car I've owned, not the quickest, but the fastest, was
a 1966 Plymouth Barracuda. Cop gave me a break when he wrote
me a ticket for 172 MPH. No, it was NOT stock. Not even close.

First car date was in parents 62 Impala.Fastest car owned 900H.P. sprint car 1000#s.Fastest street car probably a 66 Nova L-79.I had a R/T 68 Charger 440 but wasn't as fast but faster top speed.Son had ZX-9 Kaw that was capable of 10.5 sec 1/4 mile.My nova was a mid 13s car slow by todays muscle cars but not many cars could run 14s.Friend had Hemi Dart and also new Corvette and they were bad fast. Both cars could probably run a 12 sec. or less 1/4 mile.

Must have been a slow truck. An RM250 won't go 80 MPH. Know a really good pro MXer that lowered a CR500, put street tires on it and real tall gearing for bike drag races. He did a 12 second 1/4 mile. A friend of his was there too with another CR500. He wasn't as fast but pizzed off the Harley guys because his times were consistent. I think he was in the 12.6 sec. 1/4 mile range. A 250 would be quite a bit slower.

First date was in sister's early-mid 70s bug, took young lady home from work. First real date was junior prom in my Mom's 76 Aspen wagon, same young lady. Next car date same young lady but her Mom's FuryIII. (Boy was I dumb for not being able to hang on to that young lady.)
Fastest car 85 Monte Carlo with 350 built from scratch for $300 (worked at machine shop so old parts were cheap or free) Had 2:21 rearend. NO bottom end but out ran a Pontiac GTP between Pa and Ohio. When I hit hi gear he wasnt around. Only thing I knew was 1st was good for about 85, hit 2nd and speedo stopped moving.

First date was a double date with my friends 57 Chevy. Never had fast cars. My 49 Chrysler New Yorker straight eight may been the fastest. Almost 100, not quite.Stan

First date 71 GMC 3/4 ton 4x4 could find some interesting places to park. Fastest 76 Camaro or 83 Monte Carlo SS that I just sold last spring and its still on the road.

First car: 62 Pontiac Tempest, 4 cyl, 4 barrel carb(half of 326)
First date in a car: 66 Ford Fairlane, 4 dr, w/289 HP, would squall tires through every stoplight
Fastest: Never really had fast cars. 69 Chev Impala, hardtop, 350 cu.in. Real RoadBoat.

Mines bored over to a 295cc, the thing that helps the 250 is power valves, its got roughly 56hp, and a cr500 has 61-64 depending on year, mines geared right and will do 80mph, mine has a lot of upgrades, pipe, silencer, oversized radiators, vforce reeds, big bore kit and a few others, as for the truck a srt10 is the fastest production truck made, it has the v10 viper motor with 505hp, it was set at a little over 154mph, 0-60 in 5.2 sec and 1/4 mile in 11.6 so I'd say its a fast truck, I've never raced my dirtbike but it just seems pretty snappy, when I can roll it over backwards in 4th gear that's saying something.

Only new car I ever had was a 69 Impala 2dr Sport Coup. 327, 2bbl carb., 3 on the tree. 16 mpg if you stayed under 70mph. Found out the clutch was not under warr. when it went at 7000 miles.

(quoted from post at 18:13:40 03/04/14) Mines bored over to a 295cc, the thing that helps the 250 is power valves, its got roughly 56hp, and a cr500 has 61-64 depending on year, mines geared right and will do 80mph, mine has a lot of upgrades, pipe, silencer, oversized radiators, vforce reeds, big bore kit and a few others, as for the truck a srt10 is the fastest production truck made, it has the v10 viper motor with 505hp, it was set at a little over 154mph, 0-60 in 5.2 sec and 1/4 mile in 11.6 so I'd say its a fast truck, I've never raced my dirtbike but it just seems pretty snappy, when I can roll it over backwards in 4th gear that's saying something.
no wonder your dodges are so fast, the actual road test !/4 mile time is 13.38 not 11.6, dream on., Chuck

1st date- 1966 Ford Galaxie 500 XL with a 390 and an automatic-coal black inside and outside..I'd love to have that car back..

Fastest car-1975 Corvette Stingray L82 with a 4 speed...A close second would be a 1986 Buick Regal T-Type..

First date car was my uncle's '48 Chevy Fleetline two door. (Looked kinda fast, but might have gone 75-80 downhill with a tailwind). My first car was a '46 Pontiac 8 business coupe (95-96 mph). Fastest-- not sure, my '63 Ford Galaxie 500XL with a 390 would go to about 110 pretty fast, but at 115-118 the lifters pumped up and it would settle back to 110. The '67 Lincoln with it's 462 would do about 115. The '84 Crown Vicky buried the 85 mph speedo and then some after a Ford mech. Friend "bootlegged" a later model chip into it's 'puter. Had my old Ford '77F250 with a 460 over 100 a few times. You know the '05 Five Hundred Limited AWD I have now might have the fastest top speed of all, it's got a low drag coefficient and goes 90 real easy.....slow accelerating but smooth as silk that far and felt like it had lots more......can't risk going any faster, scares me now, I'm almost 80 years old....
