cab heater 2555 john deere

The water level could be low. The heater will quit working if the level is not clear full.

Also check the thermostat. You could just have a cold radiator too.

thanks for the info! It was down about 3 litres of coolant and i cleaned the fresh air filter. Haven't got a chance to try it yet to see if that fixed the problem. ot

tractor doesnt have a heat gauge with numbers. but it runs between 1/4 and 1/2. i topped up coolant and cleaned filters. still no heat I'm trying to get the heater because the temp control knob isnt turning properly. I'm thinking that could be the problem. But i havent figured out how to get at the front side of the heater core to check that out

(quoted from post at 19:33:56 02/17/14) . But i havent figured out how to get at the front side of the heater core to check that out

Raise the cab roof(3 screws under curved frt ledge & two larger bolts on each side closer to the rear). Roof is hinged at the rear and has a prop rod to hold up front. Then remove screws from metal cover to access the AC evap. & heater core plus switches and coolant control valve.

So my problem seems to be worse then a simple fix. nothing i tried worked so i had john deere out to look at it. they told me the head gasket was gone. So i found a mechanic to put a head gasket in it for me. He now has it apart but says there isn't any visible signs of the head gasket being gone. He's going to put a kit in anyway and see what happens. he said the tractor is putting pressure back at the rad.
