don't mean to be a drag....

Just batchin' it this week, my wife is in Chicago for work this week so its just the 3 boys and me. Got everyone in bed finally tonight and relaxing a bit, it sunk in. This weather is really depressing! Oh well, looking forward to Jon's joke tomorrow morning and the "boss" getting home Friday night.

Yep it"s been a winter and not over for us. Will be nice when the Boss returns I know what you mean. Would have been a rough one out here alone for me. They Say more snow and cold and I"m tired of it too

I agree, the weather is getting old. The "Boss"? You know Bruce Springsteen? (The joke was there...and I couldn't pass it up lol)

Even some of the snowmobilers are complaining about this winter. The sleds run better below zeroF, but the wind-blown drifts make for a rough ride. I gave that up years ago.

I feel your pain, I was all down in the dumps this morning and thought I had better check the propane tank. I have been needing to check it for a week or so and I finally got up the courage to do so.

I opened the lid and discovered the snow had covered up the gauge, I slowly started at the bottom and cleared off all the way to 15% and still couldn't see the needle. I admit I was a little excited at this point, I figured for sure it was 5% or less. I wiped of a little more towards the 0% thinking that maybe the tank was almost empty and the needle had pegged down all the way passed the red. Nope. Oh boy now I'm giddy, I may have even done a little dance. So I thought there must be 25% so I went to wipe off more snow and a big chunk of frozen ice/snow busted off.

Now I should be able to see the whole gauge but I'm short and cold and the wind is blowing snow in my face because the tank sits out in the coldest windiest piece of ground in the entire county. So I put my gloves back on and stand up on my tippy toes, close one eye one last time to see my fate. The gauge says 40%.

40% oh my, 40% I thought I won the lottery. 400 gallons of sweet house warming gold. That should get us through winter. I HOPE.

If I check it next week and it still says 40% with the weather we have been having then that will mean the gauge is broke and I am a fool for believing the darn thing. But I can still think back to this morning and the feeling I had for that brief moment in time, oh 40%, it was love at first sight.

in calif, we finally got some rain today and were supposed to get more Friday. geez... it's about time, although it's just a small drop in a very big bucket.

I misjudged on my firewood supply so have been cutting dead elm--on snowshoes. Makes for interesting maneuvers. I"m sick of winter!!!!

All I know & fear it's going to be really
ugly here in NW Pa if we get another Warm
up & Rain. The ice on these smaller streams
creeks that lead to the bigger one's & river
appears to be over 20" thick & towns like
Oil City Pa & everyone else down stream will
Pay a huge price clear to Pittsburgh.
I have plenty of wood cut, won't run out +
wood that is cut in the woods but unable to
haul it out.. last nite I used a 60 John Deere
to move round bales off a field & with the frt
weights on the tractor the front tires won't
break threw the snow with out a round bale on
the back, now they say it's going to get really
cold? LOL Keep Warm Guys!

How did you know I meant Springsteen? Just kidding too. I hadn't thought of that when I said the boss.

Did you tap gently on the side of the gauge to make sure it isn't stuck? You might be in for a big disappointment! I don't want to be a doomsayer but I hate to see you run out.

Nate,
A man as eloquent as you deserves to stay warm. Are you a writer for some firm? If not, you missed your calling. Where in Iowa? I"m an old ex neck-bowed Iowegian.
